Evening all! Re. Reverbing - a couple more things I remembered - one was a TV programme (forget which) when a £1 coin was superglued to the pavement and they filmed people trying to pick it up- some of them were quite persistent! Another was when a colleague, decided to wind up another colleague (who had a reputation for being a bit of a tight bottom) and scanned and printed (think this may be illegal?) a £5 note and wedged it under the filing cabinet in the office, then sat back and watched tight-bottomed's mission to retrieve said £5, without alerting the rest of the office..
My five for today
1. My lovely Dad helped me with the mucking out this morning as Mum is out of action (just had op on her hand)
2. Poached eggs on toast for breccie to warm up after mucking out. Pure comfort food!
3. Took my Mum for a mooch around the shops and she treated me to lunch at a lovely bistro and I only spent £2 on some xmas  cards
4. PJ time soon and then time to watch rubbish TV with OH
5. OH isn't working or on call tomorrow, so had promised to take me out....wherever I like (within reason). Looking forwards to it, as haven't seen much of him recently

Evening all.
Sorry for the lack of posts from me recently - I've had a cold which has left me feeling very weary indeed - so much so that I discovered this morning that I'd put both my contact lenses in the same side of the holder when I took them out last night - it's amazing that I haven't damaged them!
1) A nice long lie-in this morning.
2) Made a start on planting out my spring bulbs: I would have done more but I ran out of compost and was getting fed up with having to stop every 30 seconds or so to blow my nose. (I hate colds.)
3) Soup and bread for dinner - both HM, with the soup using up various bits of bendy veg which would otherwise have gone in the bin.
4) Listening to the football on the radio - we even won! :j
5) It's much warmer tonight (or maybe I'm feeling warmer now my cold's eased off a bit) so I've turned the heating off again.
6) Sipping a glass of the ginger beer won at the pub quiz on Thursday. (We came 4th despite me doing nothing much more than sniffling all evening, which is perhaps not a comforting reflection of how much use I am to the team.)
I hope everyone's had a lovely day today.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all!
frith- sorry I think my post sounded a bit "snappy". I don't want you to start doubting yourself .
millie- funny that you should mention the £1 coin glued to the floor, as I was in Scotland last year and went to a pub and they had glued one on to the patio area outside. Yes - I did try and pick it up and then kick it , until I realised I had been fooled.
purple k - 4.30 ! and you did so much today!
6 for today
1. Went to the hairdressers that my sister uses. I know that she is having her hair cut and eyebrows something or other ,next Saturday. As it is her birthday tomorrow I asked if I could pay for this in advance and obviously be given some sort of receipt to put in her card. I was given a gift voucher which the hairdreser put in a nice envelope with a sparkly thing stuck on it. She will like this rather than having just cash in a card.
2.My other sister (whose birthday is next weekend) who lives in London came to visit the other birthday sister and brought along her rescued puppy, her other young dog, my nephew, neice and great nephew.
3. My neice gave me a box of Thorntons for my birthday which was in May :rotfl:. I gave her a card and present as it is her birthday next week as well . Its funny as we don't see each other much but I communicate with her on f/book a lot which has made us a lot closer.
4. My great nephew - who is also my godson is almost 3 and he is one shoe size away from being an adult size. He is huge, adorable and a real "rufty tufty" type of boy.I enjoyed teasing him this afternoon with a megaphone that made me speak like a Dalek. My nephew (his uncle) has just turned 16 and is 6ft 6ins. Us women folk are of average height but seem to breed giant boys, irrespective of their fathers height. I am truly amazed each time I see them all.:)
5.I received a 1 month tastecard - having not won the annual one mentioned on this site. Had a look at the restaurants in my locality and OH's uncles favourite "local" is one of them- so I feel another family reunion is on the cards:D
6. I have collected all of the tokens that I need in order to redeem another £5 gift voucher. Might use this to buy the usual tin of chocolates for Christmas that are on offer at the moment .
Good night all !!:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -

And suffering now, I could do with match sticks for the eyes tonight. OH is almost annoyingly perfect and never grumpy when he's tired.
Lay in tomorrow, well it is Sunday.:)0 -
Evening all,
Hope you are all well.
1) Made pancakes for breakfast
2) Went into London to meet some colleagues/friends for lunch and a spot of shopping. When I met the girls they were very excited to tell me that my ways had rubbed off on them and they had been making some very savvy purchases using vouchers. I was very good and didn't buy anthing despite "shopping" for 4 hours!
3) Paid for a third (after the railcard discount) of my train ticket with a voucher from when I was severely delayed last month.
4) Laughing at my cat who was cleaning himself after his supper when I said something to home and he was so surprised that he looked up at me with his tongue still sticking out. He was rather put out by my laughter.
5) Listened to my iPod and read my new book from the library on the train home.
ETA 6) Claimed a sizable amount from Topcashback... yeeha!
There were also a couple of disappointments from today... a coldsore on my lip... not good preparation for my date on Friday. And the house that I want to buy is now under offerIts probably for the best as I am not quite in a position to buy it just yet... I would have been in a month or so. Selfishly I really hope that their sale falls through!!!!
Ampersand - I'll will be cheering your boys on in the morning. Hope you enjoy the game.
Ta-ta!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Chickenopolis - ha ha, not snappy at all! Rather liked that post and WAS doubting myself (not to mention everyone else).
5 or so for today.
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Bigger son back from sleepover briefly. They got to sleep at gone 3am!!
3) Did a bit of tidying up.
4) Went to Malvern for a walk. Came down the Worcestershire Beacon faster than my legs could carry me... so my knee hurts now!
5) Phone call from school friend with invitation to lunch tomorrow.0 -
No pleasures to report today but enjoyed reading everyones, thank you - perhaps that's a pleasure in itself - visiting DM tomorrow, she's very poorly so may stay over. Also the parent of a close friend passed away completely unexpectedly, so feeling a bit shellshocked atm.
Will be back with brighter posts, meanwhile take care, night night n God bless

sparrer: take care!
Now Sunday but here are Saturdays!
1.Saturday scone......bit sneaky, we weren't going to go but then decided why not!
2.Shopping came in not too expensive, considering an extra 2 mouths to fill.
3.Went in to city, managed to get parked for free, OH & I were meeting a friend who was in town from Sydney, so she treated us & we had a lovely afternoon catching up with her.
4.Kids went to a musueum for free with the 'Oldies' after watching free street entertainment & a free (but luckily peaceful....days before hadn't been!) demonstration.
5.Free tram ride back to car......going the opposite direction ,so took longer! However, it was absolutely pouring with rain by this time....so we didn't get too soaked.
6.Went to see real, live kangaroos! My mother was delighted, I remember the thrill I felt the first time I saw them.
Everyone apart from me had a very late night so only me up & not wanting to waste the day!!:(0 -

There's a pub in Falmouth with a £1 coin superglued to one of the steps just inside the front door. Fortunately I wasn't caught out and just stopped my friend before she made a chump of herself on CCTV... I bet they have some fun with that one!
Pleasures round up tomorrowErma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Hugs to you and your mum Sparrer, and condolences xx
1. The sunshine
2. Got 4 loads of washing done - thank you washing machine for not dying on me yet! and some of it dry already...
3. I made an appointment to go and sign paperwork at the estate agents and get the house online
4. Got the house looking reasonably clean and respectable and (shudder) actually enjoyed doing it as I knew the end result would be relaxing
5. My brother has come down to see us and we popped over to meet OH (yay) and took DD to the park, where the two of them climbed trees. Made me feel a bit sad that I don't/can't do things like that with her....
6. We introduced him to the joys of the Monop0ly card game, our new addiction!
7. He cooked us dinner, nomnomnom.0
