Hi Peeps, I found this lovely thread when I was looking for a homemade Baileys recipe last night and thought it was a great way to appreciate the many OS pleasures in a day.........
Yeasterday
1. Bought £15 worth of relatives Xmas cards in WH Smith 1/2 price Xmas sale. Paid using £5 off voucher and £10 giftcard so only spent 72p in real money.
2. Popped into Barnardos on the way back to the car and bought 7 more cards for 19p each. Also 2 big boxes of K'nex for £2.50.
3. DS2 excitement at building something with K'nex.
4.Making homemade Baileys.
5. Making spaghetti carbonara from fridge leftovers.
Today
1. Bought lots of nice stuff in OXFAM. (Including Whittards teapot I have wanted for ages).
2. Making K'nex roundabout with DS2.
3. Lots of people watching stuff on my eBay empire!
4. Making dinner for 10 people using fridge and freezer ingredients.(I love it when I don't have to do extra shopping).
5. Drinking homemade Baileys now relatives have gone home:j
I have enjoyed making these lists. I prob won't have time when I start back to work, but thanks for giving me the chance to record a few small victories:A0 -
Just rushing my 5 through before the forums close for maintenance..
1. Lots of bargains in Mr M this morning, fruit cake from £2.99 to 59p, double pack of confetti stars for the table £1.99 down to 39p, my fav face cream half price...spend £21.65, savings $11.91
2. DS and family coming tomorrow instead of Thurs, the weather forecast for Lancs isn't too good so they've decided they'd rather be stuck down here than not come at all :T
3. My laptop was collected today, at last. Reported the breakdown on 16th, the carrier said they couldn't get here before because of the snow but I could take it to them if I liked. I have a little Korean jogalong, they arrived today in a huge 6-wheel van, and they couldn't get here  ? Lol
4. DGD2 said she's still happy to let me use hers although mine might be a couple of weeks yet - bless her :A (She'll get an extra pressie for her 13th b/day in a few days time)
5. Cashed in some earnings from one of my survey sites and got 2 Amaz*n vouchers, which will be for DSiL's b/day, he loves them and always plans what he's going to buy before he gets his vouchers
Night, God bless, take care and stay safe..

OK, 5 for today:
1) Going to bigger son's ENT appointment/hearing test. He can now hear at 15 decibels and above (really, it should be 0 and above). This is the best he has ever done, at its worst, he could only hear over 50 which is the level needed to have hearing aids. He has to go back in another 12 months but doesn't have to have any more grommets now and probably won't in a year either.
2) Dropped a bag off at the 2nd hand shop and a bag in the textile recycling bin (outside our local pub) on the way home from the hospital.
3) Had a reasonable tidy up - hopefully 2 of my friends I went to Sixth Form College with are coming over tomorrow.
4) Made quite a nice tea - fish cakes, roast veg and green beans.
5) Made a tray of mince pies to use up the last of the jar of mincemeat.
6) Its snowing again! Only got an inch so far.

Crikey, hadn't even noticed that forums will be closing!
My five quickly...
1. Being woken at 8am with a veggiebox delivery I didn't think I'd ordered - my mistake! We are now swimming in surplus veg but I'm sure the box will get used up. I'm keeping it in the porch since that's the coldest place in the house atm and now the porch smells all cabbagy and parsnipy!:D
2. Veggie hotpot with Soya chunks for tea and the remains of yesterday's chocolate cake with cream for pud - yum.
3. Brief phone call with best friend in US.
4. Sorting out photos.
5. Identifying the lovely smell by my computer at long last - it was the Lush catalogue on the shelves beside it :rotfl:- cheaper than buying aromatherapy oils
Phew - think I've done this in time.
Sweet dreams everyone

I can't believe that I've 'gone and done it again' - big long post and yet again, I highlighted something and tried to delete by using that darn backspace key instead of 'delete' - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :mad::mad:!
Will now have to catch up later as I shouldn't even be sat here at this time of the morning. love Ollie xxxxx0 -
Today I am looking forward to...
1 - a trip to Mousehole to see the Christmas lights.
2 - yumptious goulash in the slow cooker for when we get back (although we might succumb to fish and chips & just eat the goulash tomorrow:rotfl:)
3 - a lie in this morning (after being up all night with the amazing sleepless milk monster) because I kicked dh out of bed:rotfl:
4 - sewing time this afternoon - feeling guilty that dd is one tomorrow & still does not own a mama-made quilt.
5 - baking day today - filling the freezer with stuff for lunches & making a birthday cake.0 -
Ollie, bad enough when it happens to my wee wee small posts, but your lovely thoughtful so so long posts........ Where do they all go........? feeling cross for you too.
My 5 for today are.
1. Big hello to all the new names,:AHouse elf, Dazi, littlebrownfrog :Aetc. well new to me. Really enjoyed all the very positive posts, getting myself into the right frame of mind for 2010.
2. Cold/ flu has now got worse, if that is possible. Feel crap.
3. One benifit of flu, more nsd's.
4. Got the box set of Goodnight Sweetheart, and am really enjoying watching it. I'll even find out how it ends, will he stay in the 90's or go to 40's. Hope he picks the os route.:money:
5. Looking forward to the New Year, this is my year for trying to grow herbs, few veg. etc. Tried parsley last year, killed it within 3 weeks.Lack of watering was the problem.:rotfl:
Have a great os day everyone, hugs to all who need them. Love BT xx
Ollie is your lemon cake recipe in the index? would love to make it. Everytime you mention it, this happens. Ta ta x0 -
Hi all
Back from a couple of days away and found loads to read as usual, which is a pleasure in itself.
So many pleasures in these last few days that I don't know where to start, so I shall post them at random:
1 - Spending peaceful time with DH, not a single argument *touch wood for the next few days*.
2 - Train journey to Chichester, caught the train in time even though we thought we were going to be too late.
3 - Hotel in Chichester very nice and welcoming.
4 - Nice to meet up again with DH's cousin and aunt and find her in good health and spirits
5 - Indian takeaway dinner at cousin's as nobody could be bothered cooking.
6 - Perfect weather the next day to go to the Weald and Downland museum, cold crisp day and sun shining. Glorious!
7 - All the Tudor Christmas treats at the W & D museum.
8 - Walking in the countryside in the cold air, really blew the cobwebs after so much cooping up indoors!
9 - Watching TV in bed with DH in the hotel room, drinking tea and just chillin'out (we do not have a TV in our home bedroom so this is a naughty treat for us LOL).
10 - Finding out that we chose the RIGHT day to go to the open air museum on Monday, as Tuesday it poured down with rain (we nearly decided to spend the sunny day in Chichester and go there the next day - just as well we didn't!).
11 - Picnic lunch at DH's cousin before catching train back, loads of bits and pieces from M&S, we all enjoyed it very much.
12 - After indulging in bought food for the last couple of days, going back to good old cooking at home, dinner was a mixed salad and rice and peas soup.
13 - Last but not least, as always, no matter how nice it is to be away, coming home is always nicest (sleeping in my own bed - bliss!).
Have a great day everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My OS pleasures for yesterday and so far today:
1) Getting on top of my chores so I can rest today and go play in the kitchen.
2) Digging out How to Feed your Family a Healthy, Balanced Diet and going to attempt some of the recipes to freeze today
3) Sitting under a blanket watching cooking programmes on TV
4) A nice hot cup of tea.
5) Spending the last of my Christmas money on meat for the freezer.
Unfortunately, where I thought my cold/sore throat was going, I was wrongI barely slept at all last night and I don't feel great at all today. Always happens in the holidays :P Still, I get to make chicken nuggets in a bit, and a nice risotto for my lunch in a little while. Have a good day everyone.

Evening all,
Not posted for a bit. Sorry to hear about coughs and colds. Have been trying to dodge these for months. My loved one is poorly. Lots of soup, chilli, jelly and drinks.
1. Noticed today that another of my favourite/out of print mugs had a huge chip, but instead of being gutted I saw it instead as an opportunity to buy some new mugs. Hey, I'm growing up. No mugs chosen yet, this is serious business!
2. Spotting a box of Ferrero chocs in the tree - got them from a neighbour and I tucked them onto the tree and forgot about them. Will savour them tomorrow. Maybe crumbled over ice-cream. Mmm.
3. Despite lots of visitors, keeping up with the dishwashing courtesy of Bosch.
4. Going into Comet to buy some hoover bags and not buying anything else. Kicked myself when I saw them £3 cheaper in John Lewis, tut! So no magazine or newspaper to make up for this misdemeanour.:o
5. Having a cup of tea in bed this morning. Bliss. :ADeclutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.Fab thread: Long daily walks
