  • As usual I am neglecting this thread :o

    Mine over Christmas have been:

The time spent with family. the kids were so well behaved for our Christmas dinner :D

The face on my DS when he realised Santa had brought him something else besides the small toy found in his stocking in his bedroom :rotfl:

The kids generally enjoying their new purchases (and arguing over them - they are 4 and 17 months respectively :rotfl:)

The Christmas food my mum and dad prepared - it was lovely and was sent home with food parcels :T

Having a white Christmas :) OK it was snow that was nearly a week old but it was the first white one I can remember!!

Putting away some of the Christmas decorations, house feels less cluttered now :D

Writing a "to-do" list for 2010, feeling positive about next year and the things I want to achieve.

Played Just Dance on the Wii last night and worked up a sweat phew - it's good fun if a tiny bit difficult at times :j

    That'll do me for now.
    Enjoy your bank holiday :p

    Morning all,

Hope you all had a lovely christmas. We have been at MIL for the past couple of days so not able to post but mine for the last couple of days are:

    1. DD and OH loving all the presents that they got. They both especially liked the lego (came free in the mail)
    2. Spending some quality time with my family
    3. Lots of lovely food and I didn't cook any of it
    4. Getting lots of lovely thoughtful gifts. Especially the one from my old boss - a pandora style bracelet which his wife had made, it is so lovely.:T
    5. Speaking to parents on the phone and happy that they had a quite christmas as they wanted. Dad did fall on the ice but luckily only bruising thank goodness.

    One more
Catching up on everyones posts for the last couple of days on here, this board is so positive and friendly I miss it when I can't read it for a day or two.

Lovely. I have too. Can't remember who suggested it but shall we start a bit earlier eg. 11.50pm so that we can have some quiet before the New Year celebrations sound out of doors? I have no idea of what our neighbourhood will be like since this is our first NY here.

Hello all, been a quiet couple of days when I've lounged, slept, half-heartedly shown the duster around the house...I think the most energetic thing I've done is laughed at some of the comedy on the television!
I'll have my candle ready too, although I'll have some of the DGC while their parents are out celebrating I don't think they'll manage to stay up til midnight so will be able to have some quiet time then :A

    my 5...

    1. Gave my new new slow cooker its first trial..all a bit bland but the braising steak was beautifully tender, which was the reason for wanting one. The recipe book says to use herbs sparingly, I think I took it too literally  so I'll head over to the SC thread shortly for some tips

    2. The roses my DS brought when he visited on the 19th are still in bloom, in fact they're almost the same colour as my bromeliad which only flowers once or twice a year. This just happened to be one of those times and they look stunning together :D

    3. Since my dear friend was diagnosed with Alzheimers I've been thinking of what I can do to occupy my time, knowing our mails and phone calls will slowly come to an end. Having read through the forums I've joined a couple where the aim is to make money - which is the purpose of the whole site of course - in certain ways and for certain reasons. It's time-consuming, which I need, and fun at the same time. I love this site, no matter what their circumstance it has something for everybody :T

    4. Further to the above I joined a bingo site :o where if you invest the first £5 and play it all they give you £5 a day for 30 days to play! Two days and nothing but I've another 28 to go. I don't like gambling but with someone elses money I can just about manage to swallow my pride :rotfl:

    5. My first fellowship meeting since before Christmas is this evening, lots of fun and laughter for free, and great company as well...can't wait!

Big (((HUGS))) to everyone who needs/would just like one. Take care n stay safe

    S :)

I've missed this thread, have added subscription so you can all cheer me up on a daily basis!
Here are my five for today:
1 Finding a perfect heart-shaped leaf in the woods today, giving it to DS2 whose face lit up when I said he could keep it for ever and ever and he promised me that he would (must find a frame for it to go in)

2 Making fresh pasta with DS1 and DS2 this lunchtime; okay, we didn't roll it thin enough and I stupidly decided to make it after having cleaned the kitchen, but it was brilliant fun

3 Feeling Bump leap around a lot today, much more active since Christmas, must be all the chocolate!!!

4 Making thank you cards with thumb prints of DS1 and DS2, turning them into little robins!

5 This is going to sound REALLY sad but matching up nine pairs of odd socks and gloves in the bits-n-bobs bag!

Hi guys, hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and all is well.

I have far too many nice things to remember from the last few days! Here are some that stick out.

    1. Spending a wonderful Christmas and Boxing Day with my husband's family, who are fab, and apart from massively overeating we had great fun playing Trivial Pursuit and watching telly and chilling out.

    2. Opening all my pressies - I was very spoilt and got some lovely things, quite a few of which were OS including a mini chopper, a couple of cookbooks, a gorgeous book about crochet and knitted flowers, some art supplies and lots of other bits and pieces.

    3. Finally deciding against replacing my dying iPod Nano with a new iPod Classic (costing about £190) and instead buying an 8GB Sansa which was only £39.99, is absolutely diddy and lovely and is expandable with memory cards in case I want more space, and feeling very smug for saving so much money.

    4. Finally giving in and buying myself a subscription to Jamie Oliver magazine which I am absolutely mad about.

    5. Finding an ice cream maker in the sales today for £12.50 and really looking forward to using it, although I have to clear some freezer space first.

    6. DH washed my car for me and I used some T-Cut on the wing mirrors which had faded a bit over the years and on a few scuffs. My wee car is now gleaming and looks almost brand new, even though he is ten years old! :D

    7. Using a whole bottle of some lovely tasty ale that DH had and making it into a yummy stew which will be ready in about an hour and a half.

    8. Coming back from a few days away to find that our friends, who had been catsitting, had bought us some fresh milk and a cake to welcome us back. Lovely friends :D

    9. The whole house smells of a spicy Christmas candle my workmate gave me and is making me think it's Christmas all over again.

    10. Loads and loads of episodes of Come Dine With Me to catch up on! :o

    Mine for today are:

Had a nice tootle aka Sunday drive (OK I know it's Monday but it FEELS like a Sunday LOL!) out in the countryside.

Read some more of my Tightwad Gazette - am enjoying it very much.

Discussing how we can cut down on pressies for the kids next Christmas with H. OK this may sound strange but they had so much stuff and not all of it was from us. It was a mountain infront of the tree and we were discussing how neither of them forms a particular attachment to a toy as they have so many to play with. It was just nice hearing me and H singing from the same hymn sheet for a change LOL!!!!

Managed to do some housework, got to get the duster out tomorrow.

Being on OS board - I could spend all day on here which is dangerous as I don't get stuff done :o

Thats about it for today, sorry feeling tired and need to go and calm the kids down!!!

  • 1. I love it when the party's over and we're left with happy memories and leftovers.

    2. A visit to Mr. A today, and nabbed some reductions. I was told they had reduced £2,000 of stock in there today, I didn't find it all though.

    3. Done a few jobs in the kitchen to ease me slowly back into normality.

    4. Bought two books with my birthday (August) money in the W**rks -
The Thrift Book and HFW Year Book. The Thrift book is the book I should have written myself 20 years ago. Was always going to but never had the time, too busy being thrift I guess.

    5. Lovely tea with leftovers.

    Bella.
