Hi everyone :rudolf:
How lovely to hear of the great times had by all over the last couple of days! My christmas day, once i got home, was spent skyping the family and i enjoyed seeing all the dgks showing me what they had received together with my DS 1 2 and 3 with their partners sharing a drink with them in their homes whilst i'm in mine!
My 5...
# The last clients [who were delayed by weather] giving me double the usual fee, as a thank you,so now i have enough to redecorate when the house is rewired.
# Some girly gifts from my dsis, to remind me that i'm a female!!!
# a contribution to my lurcher puppy fund from Ds3 and his family
# Clearing out a cupboard yesterday and a trip to the tip with cr**p!
# Buying a new modem lead this morning so my internet access doesn't keep going down, i had no access yesterday and felt isolated!
love and joy

2) Went to Ikea bought 6 large baskets for my hampers for £1.50 each out of the bargain corner plus loads of Xmas baubles and wrapping paper.
3) My darling kids rang me....I always love to hear their voices
4) Had a lovely shopping trip with OH and he didnt moan once
5) Now spending a quiet afternoon on the settee as I know it's going to be busy as it's my grandaughters 1st birthday tommorrow and we are having a tea party.
Have a good day everyone xx0 -
Evening OS lovelies, hope you are all well!
My 5 are:
1. Finishing off a delicious nut roast for tea. They're normally tasty, but this one was superb - probably because it wasn't me who made it...
2. Good session in the gym today - felt great afterwards. :j
3. Looking forward to an evening at the pub later on.
4. The delicious smell of my homemade bread and herby rolls baking.
5. Using some of the lovely smellies that I got for Christmas :TLife is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Ollie thanks for your kind thoughts re my cold. It's still streaming, I'm afraid, can't track this one as it didn't seem to spend any time coming, it just arrived - and streamed. What a shame about your 'wasted' food, but please don't beat yourself up about it, instead award yourself a medal for trying so hard all the rest of the time.
Caterina thanks for your kind thoughts too. I'm interested in the sound of the eco village - keep us posted.
1. A quiet day for me today trying to get topside of this cold.
2. Not one but two sleeps on the bed.
3. An easy dinner with left over lamb with fresh veg and roasted potaoes and onions.
4. The glow left behind from having all the family together yesterday.
5. Time to just 'be'.

Hiya
Mine for today:
1 Another lie in which was a surprise as the kids had an early night last night, but they must have needed the extra sleep after all the excitement of the last few days
2 Bacon butty for brunch (I did share with ds2 so I felt less guilty)
3 Getting through most of the huge pile of ironing
4 Dh doing 2 runs to the tip with all the packaging from presents. I have a dinning room again!! Yay!!!
5 Dh will be in the now clear dinning room playing on his ps3 so I can watch my stuff in peace when the kids go to bed and maybe do more knitting and sewing.
Best be putting the kiddies to bed now I think!!
I hope everyone is well.0 -
5 for today:
1) Had a bit of a lie in this morning, albeit with children sitting on my bed playing on the laptop!
2) Slowly getting the house in order after Christmas.
3) Went swimming this afternoon and little son did really well again. He can now surface dive and touch the bottom of the pool (shallow end) and sit on the bottom. And he has no fear about swimming under water AND out of his depth which is more than can be said for me!
4) Had a nice, easy tea of "birds nest pasta" which is a favourite here. Its just vermicelli, passata and some grated cheese.
5) Watched Casualty on iplayer whilst sons were absolutely glued to Top Gear. They ran to tell me about it a couple of times, they always call the presenters by their first names so it was "Mum, now Jeremy is in a Range Rover" :-D

It's so good to read about people's positives from the last few days
My five pleasures for today are:
1. Doing a very focussed think about how I am going to reduce costs, earn and save in 2010. Am feeling very positive about it.
2. Getting on top of my washing and getting it dried indoors as well. The backlog has more or less gone.
3. Really yummy but easy lunch of a sliced up pear, and organic goats cheese and roasted red and yellow peppers on rice cakes with elderflower cordial to drink. Christmas-time food treats were not massive in our house but those that we did get were/are lovely!
4. And supper was leftover veggie mince turned into a very nice spag bol by DS1.
5. Spending bits of time snuggled in a fleece and knitting my scarf.
Off to watch Outnumbered - the first bit of telly this Christmas that I have wanted to watch!
Sleep well.

Evening All!
A nice long lie-in. How lovely not to even wake until 8.30! (Mind you, it was 2am before I took the turkey out of the oven, so I'd been late to bed.)
Slicing and dicing the cold turkey this morning ready for various reincarnations. It had cooked beautifully!
Having some time to myself, albeit to clear some things up, while DH took DSx2 off to get some 'bread and bits'.
Having a very nice time with in-laws, aunt and uncle, when they came round. Apart from a bag of salad, baguette and £4 worth of salmon we hadn't got anything in specially and did a fairly simple but very tasty meal. Everyone enjoyed it and had plenty to eat. Plus guests brought a tube of Pringles and a big box of biscuits, neither of which were finished off! Entertaining - the MSE way!
'Recycling' the burned chocolate from DS's Christmas fondue set by melting it in butter and cream and making 'rocky road' with digestives, cherries and apricots. It took a while to set but it's delicious, if a little rich. REALLY, REALLY YUMMY!0 -
A VERY VERY late Merry Xmas to everyone (sorry) But an early Happy New Year!! Very strange Xmas with mixed blessings for us what with DM still being so poorly. However we have to be thankful for what we have and I feel we have grown stronger as a family and even more supportive of each other over the past two weeks. We have even achieved some lovely Christmassy moments despite the underlying sadness that we are all feeling at the moment and so I am posting these :
1) DM being discharged from hospital back to her Nursing Home for Xmas. We can visit her there whenever we want with no restrictions and so were able to spend all of Christmas morning opening her presents for her and just being there for her.
2) Taking our DGS to see 'Avatar' in 3D at the cinema and treating him to a 'KFC'. He had a wonderful night and so did we.
3) Spending Xmas Eve with DS1 and his family, Carol singing and fireworks in the village square followed by mulled wine and a lovely Xmas Eve Supper courtesy DDinL.
4) Being visited by our DSs and their families on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and spending some quality time with them as well as enjoying some nice meals and giggles.
5) Just finding some sort of peace in a mixed up muddled month, being able to spend more time with DH than usual, being able to find some happiness amidst the sadness and accepting that what will be will be and we can only do our best.
Wishing everyone a Peaceful and very Happy New Year!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Here's my 5 pleasures from yesterday:
1) Roasting my ham. I put honey and mustard on the outer layer and it is beautiful.
2) Being in the middle of the sales in a shopping centre and not buying anything
3) Watching Celebrity Wipeout which I'd recorded.
4) Rediscovering that leftover cream is great in coffee (how often do I only use milk??)
5) Making my first shopping list for the new year.
Other than that it wasn't great as a friend is having some problems and I feel like I can't help herOh well. There wasn't really a lot else to say about yesterday. I managed to get all my ironing sorted and done, and there is a load of washing just gone from the drier to the airing cupboard. We've got friends around today so the Wii will be on, no doubt, and the nibbles I was going to make are now a lot easier to cook - they're burgers :P A niggling sore throat from last night has descended now and it's aggravating - grr! Have a nice day everyone
((hugs)) to those in need or just feeling the need.
