Good Morning and HSxmasmerry.gif to everybody - the remaining snow/ice/mush is now melting away quickly - didn't even re-freeze overnight.
    HS_xmashugs4.gif

scotrae - wd on 'fixing' the Wii (I won't tell your kids, if you don't ;)) and good luck with the job application. Your Peppermint Chocolate Crisp sounds delicious - hope the Aunts/Uncles enjoy theirs .
Muppet - what a wonderful neighbour - hope your Golden Oldies arrive safely and enjoy the expedition up your lane ;).
nuttybabe - sounds like you've had a delightful Christmas Eve .
bella - wd you on such a smooth run-up to Christmas. Hope you have a Happy and Peaceful Christmas Day.
katieclampett - wd on already having done your 'family thing' - enjoy the remainder of your Christmas .
Reverbe - How lovely of your local florist - spreading Christmas cheer in his own way. Hope you and your flatmate have a wonderful day with his mum. Did you sort out your truffles? Fingers crossed for a solution to your housing problem.
ACEY - Wd to you and your boys on such a lovely Christmas Eve AND you got to spend part of it with a friend and sister :j. Have a lovely day tomorrow and hope your Grandma is up to joining you all.
Caterina - wd on your M&S whoopsies and your wreath making :T - hope your finger is OK - handling hot trays etc with a gammy-finger is not nice.
bunny too - echoing your sentiments about all living in a small village - just imagine how brilliant an 'os-family-get-together' would be danceparty.gif.
nic1lou2 - Merry Christmas to you and yours too, hun .
Tealady - wd to you and DD on your lovely money-saving girly night out :j. Great that you've managed to get to Christmas without raiding your Dec wages :T.
Broomstick - What a lovely idea you came up with :) and that poem is one of those rare ones - beautiful without being cloyingly over-sentimental. wd on simplifying your evening meal :j.
Patchwork - wtg on your unexpected harvest at the allotment :j - I used to love walking across expanses of fresh snow and leaving the only footprints to be seen ;).
sparrer - Dear Brucie sprang to mind when I read about your pressies - 'Didn't she do well!'. Great to know that you'll be spending Christmas Day with your DD and family .
bunny too - I agree that's a great 'new tradition'.
Sunny Girl - Merry Christmas to you and yours too .

    Mine for yesterday:

    1. Visited a few tenants - all well and accounted for. I know which ones are here with family, which ones are away to either family/friends or holidays and which ones are alone - only 2 and they prefer it that way :).

    2. Quick visit from DS1 to collect his g/f's son's hidden stuff - though we've just come across another bag of items from behind a bedroom door .

    3. No shopping to be done at all - makes such a change for me.

    4. Some baking done.

    5. Carol Service at 11.30 and Midnight Mass - no frozen pavements to walk on thankfully.

    6. Up early this morning and Turkey is sitting with its foil coat on and giving off lovely aromas as I type.

Hope you all manage to spend your Christmas Day in your own special way with people of you love.

Thank you for your friendship and support through the past year and all my very best wishes to you and your families for the coming year. God Bless you all - love Ollie and family xxxx

I hope that everyone has had a safe and contented day. I have.

    1. My boys were thrilled with the gifts that Santa had left them.
    2. Some lovely cosmetic gifts from DH and my boys (because I'm determined to smarten myself up and look more youthful in the next 12 months!). Not OS at all but I managed not to chastise DH for getting the posh stuff and the lack of any Advantage Card points ;-)
    3. A lovely big lunch at m/f-i-ls, with b/s-i-l and nephew - and all I provided was HM truffles and mints and choc for DS's fondue.
    4. Everyone else loving their gifts - without exception inspired by MSE tips and leads.
    5. Casually asking if m-i-l was using the mash and veg leftovers tomorrow and being brave enough to ask if I could bring them home for bubble and sqeak. It would have gone in the bin or to s-i-l's dogs otherwise! (Fear-ye-not - I let the dogs keep the leftover 'pigs in blankets' as a treat!)
    6. My boys both saying thank you to DH and I for their 'best Christmas ever' - individually, spontaneously and very, very cutely.

Before bedtime this evening I shall be lighting a candle and saying prayer for those not with us this year. Sleep tight and with smiling hearts everyone. x

    Hiya

I hope everyone had a good Christmas.

    Mine for today:

1 Kids not getting up till 8am and then they were creaping about as they didnt want Santa to hear them!! So after a very late night wrapping and sorting I did get a lie in but it was so funny listening to them trying to be quiet!!

2 The kids faces when they saw all the piles of presents and unwrapped them.

    3 Christmas dinner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gert lush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 With all the presents the kids got they all took their 'Otis' replacements to bed and when I checked on them they were all cuddling them! How sweet - all that money on presents and they prefere the socks I sewed!!!!!!!! :P

5 On my second glass of baileys, watching a bit of a film then bed - I am so tired but after spending the day in our pj's at least I dont have to change!! :)

Lots of Chirstmas wishes (Boxing day wishes now) to everyone!

Missed it again yesterday, could have been something to do with the streaming cold I suddenly developed and the fall I had from top to bottom of the stairs. I'm still feeling grotty today but there must be some pleasures somewhere - oh yes:-

    1. DS came for lunch, a rare event except on Sunday's. We don't do traditional so I cooked lamb, his favourite.

    2. The chocolate roulade I made for dessert was pretty good too.

    3. Several pieces of roulade frozen away for future use.

    4. Spent the afternoon preparing for today.

    5. A nice quiet relaxing evening.

I hope I'm not too late to wish everyone a HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Gotta go now meeting the whole family up the Lickeys for coffee and hot mince pies (I'm taking them) and then they are all coming back here for the day. Hope I last out.

    Bella.

    Morning all

Hope your day yest was everything you hoped it would be. I had the loveliest day and will be hard pushed keeping my blessings to 5!

1 Quiet start to the day with OH on our own for a while and then after wafting bacon smells in the direction of her bedroom (:D) DD2 with a bottle of champagne and chatting with christmas carols in background - bliss!:D

2 Realising that I must have been on Santas nice list as he was VERY good to me this year with lots of lovely thoughtful presents:D

3 Going to DD2's house for christmas dinner and being so proud of her as she cooked an amazing christmas dinner effortlessly.

4 Not being allowed to lift a finger to help, either with the cooking or washing up by my lovely family who said that I do it all year round! Sometimes you feel taken for granted during the year and this made me realise that although they seldom say it - they do appreciate me! aaawww bless (wipes corner of eyes!)

5 A lovely close family only day. Usually we have dinner at home and I tend to take in any waifs and strays who will be on their own and in the morning and evening we generally have lots of callers and I lay on food etc, so it is usually a very busy and tiring day. I can honestly say that yest was one of the most stress-free and relaxing days I have had in a long time.

6 Sorry must just add a sneaky 6th, just the whole feeling of being loved and loving in return. and having the time to really appreciate each other!

I sincerely hope you all had lovely days and that this feeling continues for much longer than just one day!

Have a lovely Boxing Day all

    x

Edited to say - I too wish I had read the thread earlier coz I love the Christmas candle idea and will do it next year!
