Wow Ladyhawk your job is truly diverse - dinner at the Savoy, flying off to Scotland, fishing off Hastings and now a meeting on bull castration! Whatever next, I wonder ;)
nuttybabe hope you find a lovely GSD companion :)
newlywed well done you for finding 5, and you shouldn't feel guilty for spending a little on eye make-up, we all need a morale boost sometimes

    1. Finally got the daffies planted! Phew, thought I'd never get round to it but they're all in, as are the bluebells. Just the crocus bulbs to plant now
    2. Got a deterrent spray which hopefully will keep the eight-legged creatures out - not that I hold much hope but I'll try anything
    3. Postie brought me a phial of mens aftershave - it's so nice I'd use it myself. Not as aftershave, of course!
    4. Went back to the cheapie shop I went to at the weekend and bought more boxes of Lancashire tea. I now have enough tea to last me about 3 months :), will just need a few more boxes to see me through the Winter
    5. Silly texts passing back and forth between myself and two friends, with groan-type jokes making us all laugh, ie 'if you don't keep up the payments to your exorcist you could be repossessed'. That was bad :wall:

On which note I'll slink quietly off to bed. Night night

    1. Leg is much better, just a bit sore now

    2. Saw OH twice today *swoon* (but as we were nattering with his parents both times, no hugs :( *sigh*)

    3. Did a Reverbe and found 1p, woo hoo!

    4. Lovely dinner and chat with friends tonight

    5. Good/bad news that my operation is postponed indefinitely as I don't fit the criteria for the op at the mo :( The nurse was nice about it but I'm pretty gutted right now and hope that the consultant will put me forward again soon *sigh* So the pleasure is that the nurse was nice...

Who says that was for work? ;)

seriously - I am very lucky with my job. I get to do all sorts of really interesting things and no two days are the same. Yes it is very stressful at times but the sheer variety makes it worth while.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Kittikins - sorry to hear your op has been postponed. :-(

    5 for yesterday (Thursday).

    1) Bigger son was 11!

    2) Got house nice and tidy ready for his party.

    3) Quiet shop round Sainsburys for last minute party bits.

    4) The party! Mum and dad, brother, my school friend and MrB in attendance. :-) We had a BBQ, cake then marshmallows and the BBQ died down. MrB played darts with sons for a while. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves - it's rare I host anything and I always presume everyone will be bored!

    5) Marvellous weather - the party was outside and really warm.

    6) MrB stayed here. :-)

hello! sitting in my dining room with the sun streaming in the window! Most pleasant! Have had a good walk with dog this morning ......with my mum, who was soooo slow! I'm used to marching on & had to keep stopping! However, it is a gorgeous morning & lovely to be out & about.

A few pleasures from last couple of days:

DD2 went on a trip with her old classmates & really enjoyed herself. She was out for dinner last night with a friend & has a sleepover with another tonight! She's having so much fun catching up with everybody.

Spent Wednesday afternoon in my garden, cutting the grass & pruning shrubs & weeding & enjoying the sunshine & the company of my dog who we had for the full day. Just like old times! I enjoyed my garden here but I'm too scared of beasties in my Australian garden. Had a great chat with my neighbour....catching up with the gossip! Today she told me it was like a ray of sunshine having me back :)

Lunch with in-laws yesterday, their treat! Very nice. Dinner with friends on Wednesday night.....their treat! Very nice! I do put up a minimal protest about paying, honestly!

My best friend had a 'girlie' night for me last night, which was great. 10 of us just having such a laugh & a good catch up! Felt my jetlag at 9.10pm ....however, I was brave & kept going till nearly midnight!

Missing my noisy parrots but loving seeing & hearing blackbirds, sparrows, swooping starlings & our wee robin in the garden.

Catching up with friends for coffee in their back garden yesterday morning whilst kids were at my mums. For the most part the weather has been most pleasant.....warmer here than in Melbourne!

I feel in some ways like I've never been away & know I could so easily slip into life here again very easily! However, also , I appreciate just what we have back in Australia....this has been an enlightening surpise for me! Now.....if only there were no spiders, snakes, cheaper food & an easy commute for friends....it might be nearly perfect!

kittikins - I am aghast to read that your op. is postponed. You need this so badly for peace of mind and much as wholeness of body and returning physical confidence.

ccp - I, too, had dentist and Dr yesterday. We were both v.g., I'm sure - although dentist had to zap in some extra anaesthetic twice, when I leapt involuntarily.

mhagster - I am so vary glad when I read However, also , I appreciate just what we have back in Australia....this has been an enlightening surprise for me! I wonder if you know the author Susan Duncan, Australian. A while ago I found Salvation Creek[I believe the books you need find you when you need them]and now The House at Salvation Creek. I am trying not to belt through them, although, atm, this is not my mode at anything.
I not only recommend them, but feel they and you would find lasting pleasure in each other. Please try them from Library at least and see what you think.

frith - you are so obviously a natural and empathetic host/giver. You'd just better STOP being surprised by the happiness you create and enjoyment of those around you.

newlywed - have you investigated all the help that might be around for you/prescriptions? I'd strongly recommend this a CAB benefits MOT[they have specialist advisors] At worst, it's status quo. Meantime, glam up those beautiful eyes guilt-free ;-)

    1. Left Dentist and Dr zapped, so slept on and off, with only slightly-read books and village magazine, in sun outside all afternoon.

2.Car didn't start...AGAIN - battery has flattened itself again, but it didn't phase me. I am so out of things atm. Will hope friend in next village can come and help and I can also give her bits from France.[We met at Cambridge, both reading Fr/Eng]

    3. Help from some amazing techies on mse at least allowed me to see Great British Bakeoff, but my computer is just scrambled atm and I am beyond knowing where/how to start to fix it, even with their directions.

    4. I keep French and UK wallets separately for travelling and recall carefully tucking French one somewhere out of sight the other day. Now I can't find it or remember where and I wanted to bank the euros into my NZ travel a/c - just so wish whatever is peculiar with my sense of balance/time/place would right itself. It was never fun feeling like this and I'm entirely fed up with it now. For a nerdwoman whose memory and atd were notable and legendary in certain circles, this is disquieting.

5.Appt for Addenbrookes next Wednesday was just phoned through by Practice Mgr. She is an effective, professional woman and I like her very much. I know I am lucky to have this care.

Better get out in sun again, as ordered. So much to do.....still haven't unpacked from antiques fair and next one is not all that far away.

Enjoy the beautiful weather everybody. Hugs and simple pleasures all day long.

I decided to post again because:

    1. When I switched radio on, it was to hear that Ali Dezaei is reinstated, although it is clear the Met. will never let up on him. I heard him first on R4 some years ago, read 'Not One of Us' and have followed his courageous path ever since. It's not over, but it's progress. The tabloids hate him; that's recommendation enough for me.
    2. Found my French wallet - it was gone for over a week.
    3. Dear L has just come with her daughter and, with my jump leads, car now goes.
Big surprise - another daughter cut her never-cut-in-over30years long, long, long, long hair. It looks good!
    4. Such beautiful weather - just heard on R4 that here in Cambridgeshire we have the 100 year record for Sept. temp. -average 29.8C, although it's been over 30 here. How I love it!
    5. Was able to pick raspberries, huge, for L and daughter to eat straightaway and give her bits from France which I think she liked.
    6. A lovely pm from....:-) merci millefois, ykwya.

    1. Did two loads of washing pegged out to dry in this wonderful weather.

    2. Had a morning cappucino drinking it in the garden watcing my white towels blowing on the line in the breeze.

    3. Really gave the bathroom a deep clean from re-siliconing the shower yesterday and I wanted it gleaming. I was banned from doing it yesterday because the silicone had to 'go off'!

    4. Found some feather cushion inners in the loft - so I don't have to go and buy any more for the conservatory! :j

    5. Will walk the dogs over the field before dark and hope that it is a little cooler :)
