Thanks Chicken and Carolyntia - my birthday is actually on Tuesday but I am going to be away with work (more menu testing) so am meeting up with a few friends tonight. I am a little sad though as 3 of them have called to cancel at the last minute
Awww Ladyhawk that's such a shame. Try not to let it put a dampener on your evening though. Have a bit of cake to cheer yourself up :bdaycake:As my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Here's mine for yesterday...
1. Toddler group in the morning, nice they've started up again with the new term.
2. Shop at Waitrose with DS (special treat for me, albeit not very OS!)
3. Made HFW's soda bread, absolutely delicious
4. Beer and film with DH
5. Started to crochet a jumper and learned how to do a foundation single crochet (in American terms), which is a fantastically useful technique I'd never come across before! It took me a few attempts to start with but very chuffed with the outcome.Must get organised and rejoin grocery challenge!0 -
Hi all
Not posted for a while life has been very busy but hopefully starting to settle into a routine
1. The weekend has started. I had to work today double time so the moey will be useful when I get it next month. We also had muffins and biscuits and not my turn to buy.
2. DH given some tomatoes yesterday and with blackberries, apples, pears and damsoms aswell as cobnuts from the fields behind the house free food is in abundance.
3. Some lovely morning walks with beautiful sunrises over the past few days.
4. House is tidy and not much to do today.
5. England somehow winning the rugby.0 -
1. Bike ride with my lovely wife, though she kept laughing at my wobbly unconfident ways...I haven't been on one in years and am a WIMP!
2. Cleaning up the bikes outside. It was cold and started to rain but lovely to have a chat and strangely fun!
3. HM veggie soup on the stove, using up all leftover veg from this week plus some crusty bread fresh from the bakery and butter mmmm
4. Breakfast in bed with a big mug of tea while reading some OS type blogs.
5. Recipe hunting and writing lists of ingredients. I love reading recipe books and building up my own personal notebook of recipes.0 -
Millie my sons Welsh Section A was a little darling, no-one else could do anything with her but she followed me like a dog. Mind you, no-one else took her polo mints or ginger nuts
. Love to hear about other's ponies/horses as it's a long time since the children grew up and moved on
Ahhh - my first pony was a little dappled sec A - so pretty, but could be a bit of a madam- meant to be a first ridden, but definitely better on the lead rein! This one is a sec B, also a madam, but owned for 23 years, so a bit of a family pet. She is now enjoying a happy retirement, but a few times a year had to tolerate small people being plonked on her back. I also have a sec Dx, who is a bit like a big dog!! Can you tell I like welshies?
My five for today (errm, I have been uber lazy, for me!)
1. Not necessarily OS, but simple pleasure doing the horses this morning, then sitting outside with a cup of tea enjoying the view towards the Cotswolds...bliss!
2. Made a couple of bits of jewellery for Mum's WI friends, £16 in total - every little helps!
3. Made a couple more bits, but will put those away for xmas pressies
4. Having dinner cooked for us tonight (thanks, Dad)
5. Planning a night in with OH and a trashy DVD (and a bottle of wine and some munchies!)0 -

Oddly enough, my parent's horse is a Welsh cob!
1) A nice, long lie-in this morning - I woke up when the postman put something through my door but couldn't be bothered to get up and do anything about it - I finally woke up properly more than an hour later.
2) The mog's been in a lovely cuddly mood all day.
3) I've got my first ever home grown courgette - it's still quite small at the moment - only about the length of my finger - but it's unmistakeably a courgette. :j
4) Listening to the football on the radio this afternoon - a good match, even though we lost in the end. :footie:
5) Chard and ricotta lasagne for dinner tonight.
Have a nice evening, all.
ETA - I've just been standing out in the kitchen making the tomato sauce for the lasagne and suddenly realised I was mindlessly humming "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles". Darn you, West Ham!
:rotfl:Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
Mine for today
1. Bacon and egg rolls for lunch
2. Went to beach to play football. Was ok until football got washed out to see and dog went for a swim following me in water in my failed attempt to get it, so me and dd walked dog home (others in car) so he could dry off a bit. We had a nice chat on the way home.
3. A little nap this afternoon
4. Dd and ds2 have been very cuddly today. Ds2's lump has gone down and he just has a bruise there and has been his normal whirl wind self.
5. Watching a film with hubby when kids in bed. Might even have a small glass of wine. Assuming I stay awake long enough!!! :rotfl:
have a lovely evening everyone. x0 -
My five for today are
1. Getting the shopping nice and early before the rush.
2. Not spending too much.
3. Another bag full of runner beans from the allotment, now in the freezer. Don't know how much longer we are going to be picking them, they are starting to look a bit iffy.
4. Lovely dinner. Only just realized that i have stuck to my meal plan this week.
5. My Mum and Dad coming round for a cup of tea and a chat.
Hope everyone has a good day

1. Got up at 7.15am, thanks to impatient mogs. Was nice enough to sit outside with a cuppa for a few minutes
2. Got showered, dressed and breakfasted by 8.30am, then, gave the patio table and chairs a final clean and put them away under their green cover for the Winter (what's the chance of us getting that promised Indian Summer now?!)
3. Finished making the heavy Winter porch-to-lounge door curtain and hung it. Only trouble is now I can't see through the glass doors to see if anyone's there!
4. Stripped the espalier of all the Coxes which were loose enough to just drop into my hand, only a few more left now. Picked a few more ripe tomatoes, gave some of both to DNeighbour. She gave me some pears from the tree at the bottom of her garden - I can see some apple and pear crumbles heading for the freezer.
5. Swept up lb's of cob nuts which have dropped from the tree over the wall at the end of my garden, Every time I go down there I get bombarded! Now I need to find some recipes as I'm not going to let them go to waste.
6. Got the last bits for DB and DSiL's wedding anniversary tomorrow and put new batteries in the camera ready for the guest book/photo album I'm making for them
Night night, sweet dreams

Good evening all,
Millie,CCP, Sparrer- how strange, my first pony was a fat little welsh mountain pony . He had laminitis and was neglected by his previous owner - as he was left to stuff his face , was never exercised and he should have been seen by the farrier more frequently  He was a little sweetheart.
5 for today
1. £80 rebate from previous utility company for electricity. I am waiting for the gas rebate now...
2. After trying for ages OH finally got through to the "free pies and beer offer" from O2 one of this weeks tips from Martin.:money: I am looking forward to them being delivered to my door.
3. Sitting on my own in the garden at 6am gobsmacked by the "Turner-esque" red and purple sunrise. I then went back to bed after letting the chickens and dog out.
4. Did a nuttybabe and made a fake away KFC and did a mammoth clean after the dog was returned to its rightful owner (my Mum). The Dyson was one huge fur ball:rotfl:
5.An old work colleague who has had a hideous year of pain and loss has emailed me to ask if I will look after her hens at my house whilst she goes for a well deserved holiday with her family over Christmas. I have an extra coop and am very happy to do so .I am really looking forward to it
Good night all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
