5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

What a day!
Will try and think of some pleasures first.
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Sewed most of the name tapes on the new bits of school uniform.
3) Boys behaved better as the day went on.
4) Delicious tea cooked by MrB.
This slightly marred by.... coming off the motorway into MrB's city and a MASSIVE car accident unfolding directly in front of us. :-( I slowed down but then realised that the drivers behind thought I was just going slow because my car is ancient so I had to wave out of the window and I was nearly screaming at people to slow down. The crashing car just flew up into the middle of a high roundabout. I'm feeling funny just typing about so I'll stop! The man staggered out OK.0 -
1. I set the alarm and got up despite going to bed uber-late, and put the chickens out before the rain came AND remembered to cover them over so i didn't have to go out in the rain
2. We all sat around in our pj's until 1pm. I have flannel Pink Panther pj's.
3. I made a chicken curry at dinnertime and we got dressed, lit the fire and watched "The Golden Child" while we ate it.
4. My little boy asked me to come back and give him another hug before bed. I'm going to miss him so much next week
5. I remembered we had hot chocolate about 2am this morning....We had hot chocolate at 2am this morning, lol
Peace and love guys xxx"There is no substitute for time."

One more day of school holidays left
Usually we "do" something on this day, but we did so much last week that we've decided enough is enough, and anyway we need today to get ready for tomorrrow
So mine for yesterday
1. Felt less down than i did on Saturday, which was the worst i have felt for some time.
2. Had an afternoon pottering round the kitchen - green tomato chutney, bread pudding and a chicken stew that was made almost entirely of stuff that would have been thrown away (2 chicken carcasses, odds and ends of veg from the fridge that had seen better days, some noodles that no-one likes much but will be ok in the stew. ) the only bought stuff was 2 tins tomatoes (on Mr T's by 1 get 2 free), some dried soup mix, (lentils, split peas) and a couple of carrots. Very OS!! :T
3. My inspired idea of marinating the chicken for the risotto in some sweet chilli sauce - livened it up no end
4. Spent 2.5 hours sitting on sofa watching river cottage and the fred west thing, whilst knitting. It is unheard of for me to do this.
5. DD went to cinema with a friend and DS had a friend to play so that we could get on with tidying house - we are getting there slowly.
Wow for a quiet day in, we certainly were busy. But very satisfying. Have a good day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Trying to post this for the 4th time, wish me luck!!
Yesterday's pleasures
1. OH is back and brought us presents from his holiday
2. DD is back
3. Both my parents brought DD back, so I did a better tidying up than I usually would if it was only my dad bringing her home......so not particularly pleasurable to do as I'm bone idle, but I do like having a reasonably tidy house!
4. Cooked us all a lovely dinner, one meaty and one veggie dish, which were well received by the hungry hordes
5. Hung up my beautiful photo present from my friend on Friday night and it looks awesome on that particular wall
Today so far.....
1. Took back 3 out of 5 clothes items I bought in A$da the other day, as I can live without them and am toying with taking another one back....
2. Bought DD new school shoes, not really a pleasure as Brantano is no cheaper than Clarks but I'm sure DD's feet are very grateful!
3. The washing is drying nicely in the windy garden
4. DD is playing with her friend and neither of them have noticed how chilly it is!
5. Read all the bits of the weekend papers that my parents brought down with them, I rarely buy a paper, usually read them online to save money, but like all the extra bits you never seem to find online.
6. Enjoying a day off before DD goes back to school tomorrow. I like short weeks!
7. Finished a fabulous library book that's due back tomorrow and have 2 more to look forward to tonight. OH is allegedly coming over again tonight but I think he won't for various (not nasty!) reasons, so am anticipating an early night snuggled up with a good book rather than a good man, lol.
8. I've been invited to a baby shower for a lovely friend, silly American idea but hopefully will be fun on the day!
9. Have just done some 'gardening', i.e. pulling up 6ft+ high nettles and some other weeds, very long way to go on the garden front, but at least I've made a start......0 -
Evening all
Frith - Sounds like you had a bit of a shock there....hope you're ok
1) Lovely sunshine here yesterday
2) Got two loads of washing dry on the line
3) Got all the windows cleaned inside and out
4) Texts from MrB who has now flown off to India for work
5) Only 2.5 more days at work:j
6) Receiving a lovely cheesy present from MrB's trip to America
Hope you all had a good day. Hugs to those that need them
C xAs my dad always used to say 'Just because you've got the money doesn't mean to say you have to spend it all at once'0 -
Evening all
Mine for today
1. Back into routine of 6.30am dog walk. Even though I felt tired, I really enjoyed it. And I got to wear my headphone hat, its brilliant and just what i need now its starting getting nippy.
2. Kids looked so smart on their first day back at school. And they all had brilliant days with lots to tell me when I picked them up.
3. Whilst kids at school i cleaned kitchen, bathroom, living room, hall way, dinning room (bit i could get to), hoovered house, cleared through tv cabinate and sorted the shoes, coats, hats and scarves. And did the ironing!!! Didnt have time to miss the kids today :rotfl:
4. Homemade yoghurt for breakfast, leftover potato, cabbage and bit of chicken made into a curry for lunch and rest of leftover chicken in homemade bbq sauce for tea.
5. Lots of quality time with kids after school, crafting, playing games, helped ds1 write a thank you letter. Was really nice after not seeing them all day.0 -
Sorry not read anyones pleasures will come back later!
Dashing out to work very shortly!
Monday:
Beautiful day!
Brought left over food from work for tea, would have gone in bin otherwise! Did us fine!
reading a good book......it's in large print so I am fairly zooming through it!
nice chat with my mum just because!
fell asleep on sofa at 7.30pm & sent to bed (snoring:( ) at 8.30pm......so have had a good nights sleep!0 -
1. made some casseroles a cake, apple pies and some bread for the freezer
2. went a walk in the rain
3.DH took HM casserole in a food flask for his dinner at work
4.DS1 helped me peel some apples and wash up
5. its raining! hurray we need it its been so dry.0 -
Not sure I can make it to 5, but here goes
1. Friend and I being entertained by the exploits of my pony (elderly and very cheeky). Pony herself not very MSE as she is spoilt and expensive, but she makes us all laugh every day
2. Supermarket shopping and I picked up a few bargains
3. Offered to make jewellery gift for my Mum to give to her friend. Necklace will cost £1.50ish in materials and Mum would spend ~£20 on a pressie. Mum buys me beads as a thank-you, bless her.
4. Night in and Dad has just delivered the remainder of a bottle of wine they had left over...well, if you insist...
5. Cooked dinner for 4 for less than £1/head- not what I would call cheap as I could do way cheaper, but included best steak mince and it was inhaled, which I take to be a good thing
6. About to pay Dad back by delivering a choc bar I unearthed in our sweetie drawer
Err, ok, that was 6!!0 -
Good evening all
Frith- I hope that you are o.k? How awful , I hope that this hasn't put you off?
Ladyhawk - I had to laugh -My OH worked for the "C " group. He has a very limited sense of humour and he was the manager of a "Spud U Like" franchise operated by the "C" group . He had to dress up as a potato to promote the opening of the shop . I wish I had known him then as I would have paid good money to see a miserable potato:rotfl:
5 for today
1. My Mums dog gently waking me up 3 minutes before the alarm went off. She didn't whinge she just sort of breathed on me as she was desperate to be let out in the garden. A bit of a shock to have a dogs face in yours when you first open your eyes in the morning.
2.House insurance renewal came through and was a lot cheaper than expected.
3.Made a chilli for OH in the slow cooker with the first chilli from our plant . I had a quorn one . I am so pleased with the value slow cooker that we have that I got one for my Mum and my sister and then got myself another one when they were on sale for about £6.99 .It is just fine for the two of us.
4.It was very windy here today - did a load of washing and got it in just as it tipped down here.
5.My brother came round to take the dog out briefly as he was going to see a mutual friend who apparently has a very haunted house. They have had exorcists in and our friend came home earlier today to find every cupboard door and drawer wide open - he phoned his wife who was at work and she knew nothing about it. My brother has always been scared of anything like this so I expect he will probably just suggest they take the dogs out rather than actually go into the house himself. I can't wait to find out..
Good night all x:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
