Keith- Crikey-your "gift" of the face of a mouse

Ladyhawk- I hope that you enjoyed your day at the horse trials.

    5 for today

    1. Slept like a log .

    2. Did the exercises that the physio has set for me- ouch , but glad I have got through them.

    3. The unknown brand of foot cream that I am trialling for two weeks is rather good. I have lots of hard skin on my feet , due to being barefoot most of the time and my kitchen has a rough slate floor , which does not help. The cream is very good ( soft heels already -must be a miracle )and comes in a very generously sized tube that will last for months.

4.Looking after my Mums dog for a week whilst she is away. She is so good natured and is no trouble at all ( the dog that is). She gives the hens a very wide berth as one of them has been known to lunge at her. She also refuses point blank to go out for a walk with my OH unless I go.

    5. Home made chicken and leek pie cooked in the slow cooker with potatoes from the garden.Used the left over pastry to make some cheese straws.

    Good night all x

Hi all, back after 2 very strange, hectic but lovely weeks.

Feel a bit  because my lovely niece who has been with us for 2 weeks has had to go home and we miss her already.

So mine for the last couple of weeks - some are not OS or MSE but some are and all were enjoyable

    1. Kids having a lovely time in wales - the freedom of the campsite and volunteering to work on the preserved railway.
    2. Meeting up with friends and family in a large field in Wales
    3. The amazing GCSE results obtained by various of the "Yoof". No-one got anything below an A - amazing
    4. A lovely bike ride with OH and niece (my 2 opted out - they know us better than Niece does:D). She picked up when I promised her a Hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows at the end.
    5. Trip to London - free visit tot he palace for Changing the guard, and a visit to see Wicked! Meal after at Pizza express courtesy of Tesco's
    6. Trip to Cadbury world yesterday - courtesy of tescos too. - Had to throw some chocolate away, we ate so much.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

nuttybabe I must look up how to make yugurt in the sc, sounds interesting
Ladyhawk hopefully this lovely sunshine will help ripen your tomatoes
Red Doe hope your weather improves, we'll have to share some of ours with you
lickylonglips you brought back happy memories of walking along the promenade there. Both times I've been it was pretty wet but didn't detract from the 'lights'

    1. Went to pick up some fleeces which I'd ordered from a chain store. Went yesterday but they'd given to someone else by mistake so had to trek back to the shop (10 miles each way) to get them. But I have them now and they're going to be very useful this winter
    2. Had a day in the garden, mowed the lawn, dead-headed and weeded, and planted the beginnings of a lavender hedge, it's going to look so pretty :)
    3. Had lunch (last of the hm chicken and lentil soup with outside watched closely by the dog and mogs - why do they think I might drop food, when I haven't done that since I was little? ;)
    4. DD dropped in to collect a double flask we've had in the family for as long as I can remember, she's borrowed it to serve hot drinks to her football team on cold Sundays. Pleased it's being put to good use again
    5. Bought my DM a pretty fascinator with a little butterfly on, for a wedding she's going to in Oct. Got it via the auction site so hope it arrives by next Sun when I visit again
    6. Started to make the curtain for the inner lobby door, it's actually upholstery fabric and very thick so should give any draughts out over Winter :)

    Night night, sweet dreams

5 or so for today (Saturday).

    1) Bit of a lie in.

    2) Went to Ironbridge with sons. Particularly enjoyed the Victorian town.

    3) Went to help mum clean her church. I was playing the organ a bit (smaller son doing the stops) and we got showered with bat wee! Not really a pleasure but we looked up to see the bat upside down then it flew round a bit.

    4) Tasty tea of roast chicken, cous cous, brocolli and sweetcorn.

    5) My schoolfriend came round.

    6) Just talking to MrB online. :-)

I buy my strong white bread flour from Lidl, it was around 79p I think when I bought it last. I am afraid I use the little sachets of yeast (cost approx 87p for 8 from Sainsbugs although I don't use the whole 7g, I save some for making other bread doughs at a later date). I did try the Doves Farm yeast (found in Tesco for sure, it's a little orange packet) but I confess I never found I could make a decent loaf with it.
