  • Look at this link for Woolworths

It looks strikingly similar and is £100 less.

A Quad core processor to play the Sims 3? Seems a bit like overkill. And you'd expect a Quad Core to come with more than 3GB of RAM, looks unbalanced to me.
I do hope you didn't go for the interest free option of more than 1 year, because they're charging an extortionate 30% APR on that. So on a 2 year credit plan your £600 PC will cost more like £950. That ain't money saving.
Since you've already got a full system, wouldn't you be better off buying a refurb base unit only with a suitable processor (say a Dual Core) and reusing your existing monitor/KB/mouse? Somewhere like EuroPC?
That would cost half what you're paying out for this Acer.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I agree, it is the same PC, but woolies don't do any finance options

No, it states that if you want it over a year you will get charged 29.9% APR. I went for the 52 weeks at 0% APR

also find out what processor and spec you have and tell us the game you want to play, if its not too demanding and you don;t need top notch graphics settings you could find dropping something quite cheap into your existing machine would get you by for a few months to a year

eg this graphics card costs about £20 (for the desktop version which will outperform the laptop one reviewed)

Finance options could include rummaging down the back of the sofa/in jeans pockets for spare change :)

but will that solve all the problems I am having with the PC already? the restarting on its own, freezing on screensaver/power save mode, freezing when pressing one key on keyboard?

Maybe you need to consider posting a Hijackthis log

Is your current Computer Windows XP, and do you have the disc?

I'm not great at these things at all, but I would post a Hijackthis log (search this forum for how to do) and post it on here as a new thread.

And ask someone more knowledgeable to take a look

no its just a non-specific example of what can be done for not too much money up front

first step will be you determining exactly what hardware you have and post it (by the dxdiag command mentioned earlier or some other places we could tell you to look on your PC if that doesn't work)

then we can look at weather fixing all the other stuff on its own will get you there and what else might be needed.

On the plus side if its just sims 3 you're after running i don't think that'll be too demanding
