It is definitely better than my other one, I did have a little help from Novatech as was unsure which wire went where, and then found out I needed a 4 pin moles to sata converter as there weren't enough sata connectors. Thank god for the shop across the road, Windows 7 was £89.95, full version :) and the converter only cost £2 :)

I've put Sims 2 on here as I will have to wait a while before I get Sims 3 and the difference in graphics is amazing!!! I can have all the settings at best and it plays no problem!!! I can even speed it up to the fastest setting and it still plays!!!!

I definitly won't be so scared of doing it next time :D But still, I couldn't of done any of it without all the help from you guys :)

You are right, I did install the 64 bit version and my god it is excellent!!!!! Quick, don't have to wait for it to do things, I love it!!!

Had a chat with DH today as had Tesco vouchers and sooo wanted Sims 3, he did really well last week tip wise and he agreed to let me buy it!!!!!:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j Wahooooooo. It is excellent, I'm still learning as it is different to Sims 2, but definitely worth the wait!! You can also tell that a lot of work has gone into this version and I love being able to customise everything to how I want it, instead of the only choices available :D Going to register my game online so that I can get my £6 to spend on the website :D I love it, I love it, I love it!!! I feel like a little kid at Christmas :D Good bye housework, here comes Sims!! :D wishful thinking!

I am interested in what happens with the install, but I think I would have to buy the full package as I don't have the XP disc

Well done getting yourself up and running! Did manage to get myself up to Win7 too on Saturday and can personally confirm all the 'hoo ha' about upgrade vs full versions makes absolutely no odds at all.

I followed the guide below clean installing with an ultimate edition upgrade DVD, it correctly refused to activate detecting it was a clean install but using the 2 commands in the guide took 30 secs to bypass and activate successfully (had to try the second command twice after forgetting to run as admin).

    http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp

In all up and running in half an hour :)

Few annoyances took a little longer to fix but were mainly personal preferences (getting the quicklaunch bar back, downloading Flash/Shockwave plug ins etc).

Also, could have been a one off but did have a game I was playing crash after 3 hours with what looked like my graphics card overheating (Win7 was fine tho -was able to bail to desktop)... I have a GTX 295 (yes I know I should have got a Radeon :p) and it did feel very warm... again could be a coincidence but I set the desktop to the 'basic' scheme with aero disabled and haven't seen the problem again in a much longer session (was planning to set this anyway to minimise the amount of load the desktop takes up).

In all a very painless experience :)
