    I've tried to find the student version and apparantly it's just an upgrade version, you need to have XP or Vista on your computer already for it to work :o Really must find that disc!!!!!

    ....again no you won't need to use the XP cd's as both win7 versions can be used the same way, its just the 'upgrade' version needs a little more hassle to fool it into thinking its a full version.

    I've found the disc!!!!! :D Wahoo :j But it's the disc I used for this computer, so can I use it on the new one to then upgrade to windows 7?

  • yes the processor in that barbones is 64 bit enabled, 1 tip buy the upgrade version you saw on novatech if you have funds dont break bank though if it is upgrade version, install xp and let updates go through after this put in the 64bit windows 7...... and install....have fun enjoy your games......

    if retail full windows 7 after you put your comp together wich should only take about 20 mins if only harddrive graphics and dvdwriter,,, turn on instert disk follow prompts and you done...

    That's a full retail so not OEM
    i have xp oem builder edition and have had no problems. i have windows ultimate 64bit oem builderrs edition and had no problem and now sat on my tower in a nice hardplastic case i have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit oem builders edition and am certain will have no problems with..... will let you all know how it goes after the weekend doing it TONIGHT currently spent all nigtht backing all me current videos and music to lappy top.

    IT'S HERE!!!!!!!! :D now all I need to do is work out how to back up the old one, I know on vista there's a button to click, but can't find it on xp. Any ideas on this one?

    Just copy your files/folders to your external drive or whatever you're backing up to.

    hehe no cables! Will be taking a trip out today then, knew I was running a risk by not ordering them, any pc store do them? I need sata cables yes? One for each thing? Hard drive, disc drive and graphics card?
