Hi , you need sata cables for h/drive and dvd, not for graphics card.
Check that the power supply has two free sata connectors for them as well - it may have the older molex connectors and you will have to get adapter cables for your two devices - check also tho' if the h/drive or dvd can take the old molex connectors as some can use both types of power connector.
Have you looked inside the case to see if there are any sata cables there?0 -
there are 2 sata cables inside, are they for the power supply as you said and I need to buy 2 more? or are the 2 in there for the h/drive and disc drive? Jan 09. there are 2 types of SATA cables data ones (narrow about 1cm wide) and power (a bit wider, about 2 cm)
there are also 4 pin MOLEX type power connectors.
your hard disk drive and DVD drive will require 1x data cable and 1 x EITHER type of power connection. if it has both types its strictly either one or the other.
the only thing your graphics card 'may' require will be an extra power connection which will be a 6 pin (3x2) or 8 pin (4x2) power socket.
be wary of looking for cables on the high street as these can be hugely overpriced, check ebuyer for prices before setting out and make sure you know exactly what you need.
also if you are short of power connectors extra power splitters/dividers/converter cables are also v cheap online (about £2 or less) and are so basic can be safely picked up frm ebay as well as ebuyer type sites0 -
