lol I don't think it's too old, but I'm at work and don't finish till 5. We need a new computer anyhow so have ordered from Littlewoods and added a bit to my finance but within an affordable limit atleast :) Will hopefully arrive around 23/11/09 :) And waiting for cashback to track too :D The cashback will pay for the game I'm after hehehe :D And I've also sent a link to the friend who was helping me last night (till after 11pm!!) which they have said they will look at, if they sign up to TCB too that means an extra £2.50 for me if they sign up :) they won't let me send them a box of choccies though, so trying to think of other ways to thank them as don't know their address

omg you can buy an ACER from them with and old graphics card and vista for over £1400! an ACER i tell you!
  • Don't buy from Littlewoods!!!!!

Cancel it now and get the good people here to help find a suitable machine at a good price. Which you could have in a few days.

How can they take a month to deliver it? Do they have to source all the old parts specially and then build it to order?
OP I don't know what you have paid for this, but seriously if you have a cooling off period I would cancel now and buy from somewhere that offers better value.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

The reason I'm using Littlewoods is I can't afford to pay anything outright at the moment and nowhere will give me credit due to my DH having a very poor credit history

By NOT buying from Littlewoods and saving £500 will more than pay for the game you're after!

So you're going to run up a large (mostly unnecessary) debt because you want to play a computer game?

If anyone has any better suggestions please give them, I am open to idea's but bear in mind I can't pay for a system right now and have cr*p credit because of DH. The game I mainly play is Sims 3, but I also do a lot of work on it too, writing letters, spreadsheets, college work, cards for family (saves money in buying them) etc

The new computer isn't 'just' to play the game, it is for the other work I do too but it needs to be good enough to play the game. My current computer is restarting itself, without touching anything, it is freezing as soon as you hit a key 90% of the time, it goes to screen saver and doesn't come out sometimes, it goes to power save mode and does the same, it is old and has done me well (for the patience I have had to have with it!!)

    • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
-vista, avoid like the plague as this alone will eat up a chunk your system resources
    • programs work even better with 3GB RAM
    -pretty standard, RAM is cheap.
    Useful info:
    • 320GB hard drive
a little small these days, bigger drives can be picked up for about £30, i just bought a v fast 1TB for £50 last week
    • 1366 x 768 display with 5m response
A basic monitor, 19" is minimum size for a desktop & resolution is quite low. Do you have one you could re-use from an old PC?
    • DVD RW
these go for about £20 these days
    • Nvidia GeForce 8200 graphics
ouch, no graphics card and 'onboard' chipset graphics? don't expect much from it gaming wise -tbh most PCs come with a graphics card these days and its usually fairly decent, were you planning to buy one separately to run games?
    • Acer helpline: 0870 853 1000
    Nice 0870 number :)

I'd rank it 2/10 for value and consider that generous, don;t have time to spec a better one right now but am sure someone will, dell outlet could probably blow that spec away for about 50-60% of the price

look up a non-premium rate number for littlewoods and spout DSR cancellation rights at them
