Hi having a rather ancient computer it won't load the recipe properly, any chance of sharing it on here as I'm intrigued about this :D

Swede is my husbands favourite vegetable, but for me its the one i hate to prepare, Peeling the outer skin off is so tricky and takes ages, then there is slicing it and cutting it into cubes. So in the past the only time he got swede was on his sunday roast as I just couldn't be bothered to do them midweek due to the time and the pain in my hands from peeling and chopping.
Then one day i saw a tip someone had posted on facebook and its to cook it the Screaming Swede method.
It is so simple i wish i had done this for all these past years.
Just get your swede put it on a sheet of kitchen roll and just as it is put it in the microwave for 10 minutes, turn it over then cook for a further 10 minutes.
Then take it out slice off the top and just scoop it out into a bowl and you have perfect swede without all the excess water.
This is so easy that my hubby can now have swede any time he wants it.
Oh and the reason its called screaming swede is sometimes it can make a screaming or whistling sound in the microwave, this is totally normal, but rarely happens for me

I'm going to give this a try. I suppose it's a bit like microwaving a jacket potato.

I tried to post recipe but webmaster blocked it. No idea why!

Basically, it's just the same as microwaving a potato then you scoop out the cooked swede at the end. Sit it on a piece of kitchen paper and microwave for as long as it takes. Apparently 20 mins, moving it round during cooking but that would depend on size of swede. And don't worry if it makes singing noises.

I'm going to give it a try as I'm useless at cooking swede.

ETA: seems they did post it despite the warning.

No super-bargains here but the chances are I will wander in for some apples and oranges ahead of the 12th Feb when it changes.

I bought 3 cucumbers a couple of weeks back, and they tasted rather odd even though sealed. Couldn't risk eating them so they went in the bin.

Cook them for about 20 mins in olive oil - they taste amazing either in sarnis or to accompany mail meal as a veg
