Thanks Lynsey...love the mild onions, thick slices with Red Leicester cheese in baguette and dripping with French Mustard. Lightly heated.

Great for making onion rings also.
It's amazing how many rings you get out of one large onion - I use the centres for frying or casseroles etc. The restaurants must be making a killing out of each onion. :D

I noticed in Home Bargains yesterday, that they sell nets of 3 large onions for only 59p. Maris Pipers are still 49p per 2kg bag there.

Blueberries and oranges and apples sound OK
  • I only went shopping to Aldi yesterday but forgot a few things after misplacing the shopping list......I will have to go back to pickup the things that I missed which will mean I can pickup some of the Braeburn apples and oranges. I've taken a fancy to the Braeburns, nice and firm with an interesting flavour. Different to my regular Granny Smiths. The Braeburns cost me £1.15 a bag so 69p is quite a big difference..... I'll stock up. I ate 8 apples last night. If an apple a day..........hopefully 8 will fill me full of beans. lol

Hang on a minute, what oranges are they? I got some Clementines yesterday for 69p/600g so are they any different?

I quite like a slice of lime with my G&T.

Having said that it's not a great selection for me and seeing as I bought loads of kiwi in Lidl last week even slimmer pickings for the parrot.

Tanquary 10 with lemon and lime and a quality tonic ! Bliss !

If you can get limes cheaply , i.e by the case then try preserving like lemons. Great in any dish where you would use preserved lemons and spices up Thai style dishes no end !
