  • Wow, that's good going on the to do list - I've crossed 4 1/2 things off my 21 item to do list today, and I haven't even been at work!

Three whole hours were taken up arsing on with sewing machines though - finally got OH's mam's one working and have done nice neat tidy versions of the three things we did in the first week ... so I'm no further forward really, just a bit better looking! Do you know what we need to hand in tomorrow? And do we actually have to - it's not external assessment is it, yet? What about mood board, have you started yours? My fashion designer friend said you don't have to have anything in particular on it as long as it's relevant to your garment and it looks pretty. Sorry I'm rambling a bit, just pleased to have a fully operational sewing machine sitting on the dining table! :D

Yuck Wendz that's really late to be getting in! I get upset if I end up having my tea at 7pm!

Aw night Bails - what's the time difference??

I don't think it needs to be that smart, just all there and dated.

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the good wishes. As for the proposal - he bought me a helicopter trip over the Statue of Liberty for my birthday but we had to wait until the next day as it doesn't run on Sundays. He was going to propose just after we got out of the helicopter but we could only take cameras on board so we went into the gift shop where the locker was with our stuff in and when I turned round there was an engagement ring in front of me and he asked me to marry him. Turns out he's had the ring in his wardrobe for a couple of months!!!

I've taken a tip out of Dinah's book and just opened a savings account for the wedding and we've started looking for places but have to sort out costings. It shouldn't be too bad as we are having a civil service and I want either a really nice hotel for service and day do or a stately home. The evening do will be a party at the pub where OH works so it's free to hire and the drink is cheap.

Dinah, I can't believe about churches considering you 'saved'. Surely the fact that you want to go to church and to be married in church should be embraced and celebrated not looked on as if you are not worthy? Mind you, my first marriage was in my local church and my ex husband didn't go to church. We had to attend wedding talks and every week I came out feeling like I was some low life who did nothing but sin.

Right, I am now going to look for any other useful ideas that are around on this thread.

I realised just after I turned the laptop off last night that our trip is costing us £4000 each not for both like your honeymoon budgets, but still not bad for 8 months. See, I was tired! We're 5 hours 45 mins ahead now the clocks have gone back in the UK Tete- what a weird time difference eh?!

I'm jealous of your dressmaking course girls, would love to do something similar when I get back, hoping my mum will teach me though to save the pennies!

Thanks for sharing the proposal Pilchard, how exciting!!

Must dash - off to uni to study Buddhism today :p It's v interesting actually, I'd quite like to do the whole course but can't afford to pay the monthly fee of $165 plus $145 admin fee  You can get a week's free trial though ;)

Ah how lovely! I did the helicopter ride for my 21st, my best friend got it for me. That was a great idea of your OH.
