whats up with Amsterdam? Same cold thing as Paris meaning its too icy to fly? Why would she need an emergency visa?

Amsterdam has been hit by the same cold snap and there is snow everywhere.

Looking at the arrivals in Amsterdam the flight is due tomorrow at 09:25!! which means being at Heathrow for 05:00 or 06:00

Visa - Mrs Poolie is Chinese and does not have a valid visa to enter the country but she can transfer through the airport. If she can get to Amsterdam the immigration would have to give her a 1 day visa and the airline a hotel for the night.

  • I'm worried about CMD - has everyone heard about the Eurostar chaos, I'm sure she was due to be going to Bruges in the last couple of days - hope you're ok CMD!

Thanks for the concern Tete. It's lovely of you to think of me :)

I am okay but we are standed in Brussels and my parents never made it on the eurostar and are stuck in my house in the UK.

We looked into every avenue today to get home but the flights were being delayed/cancelled and the only other option was for us to take 2 trains, a bus and a ferry from Calais to Dover and OH didn't want me going through that at 31 weeks pregnant.

We are lucky that our hotel is very very nice and the staff have been brill but we are waiting on an announcement from Eurostar re: our travel. Cross your fingers for me, as I am meant to fly home to Ireland with my parents at 8.45pm tomorrow night.

    Hope everyone else is okay.

What a nightmare CMD! Hope that you manage to make it home soon. At least the hotel are treating you well.

Hope Mrs Poolies travel gets easier as well.

I personally haven't been anywhere today apart from the shop under our flat haha. Have been watching films etc and chilling out.

Yikes! Hope you manage to make it home okay CMD - Was thinking of you when I saw all the news stories about the eurostar. Hope Mrs Poolie is okay too, and if she needs to gets the visa okay.

Feel mean for enjoying the snow now! :o Can't believe we might actually get a white Christmas! Although, knowing our luck it will get a bit warmer and we'll have a sludgy Christmas - bleh!

My parents have braved the weather though and gone to the city (Nottingham) so I'm sat at home alone [STRIKE]singing[/STRIKE]screeching along to the Radio with all the Christmas lights on... sorting out the next couple weeks budgets. Woo! I know, rebel teenager over here. Budgets look okay though, which is nice!
  • I know Cinny, it probably will be sludgy, shame as it's soooo Christmassy out there at the mo!

Glad you're ok CMD, had visions of you stuck under the sea with your bump and no food or water. Hopefully you'll be able to get some compensation from Eurostar for the extended hotel stay? Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow!

Mrs Poolie's travel sounds v complicated, hope she gets sorted soon!

Well done on looking at the machine Dinah, sorry it's not been so well behaved! Yeah I saw some amazing icicles at Shotton earlier, seen about 6 robins since the snow started too :)

Bingo Britain just been added to my list for tonight!

Eeek, not getting better on the eurostar, just seen on bbc news they've confirmed no trains will run tomorrow, and they have no plans for getting people from the continent back to England, and 500 most vunerable people stranded in England will be taken back to France and Belguim by boat. I'd have thought they'd have come up with a better plan by now!
