I'll be working until Wednesday next week and we'll be staying really late so we can get everything cleared up for the year end! We have to come in on Bank Holiday Monday too, although I'm hoping it will be a short day.

I know the feeling. Because i work in retail we have to stay late on Christmas eve to move all the Christmas stock into the store room ready for opening after Christmas. The shop then opens again on 28th - doesnt feel like much of a holiday!

I think your right though Birdie, i wont be driving while the weather is like this. Its not far for me to walk to work and its actually easier to walk, anywhere else i need to go and OH can give me a lift!

    Hi everyone,

The day went really well, was freezing though outside. My toes nearly fell off I think. I was really proud and got some great pictures helped by the fact that OH was at the front as he was the tallest (there were 300 of them so pretty impressive haha). He looked really smart and his Mum and Dad were very proud too.

I am quite lucky that I have Only two days left (Monday and Tuesday) and then am off till next wed when I come in for one day then not in till the 4th or whenever the Monday is after New Year. I worked in retail for years during the holidays and you never get any time off it seems. OH might be working next christmas day so have to appreicate he has got it off this year!

[*]Get to £50 on all 3 Quidco accounts (currently at £17, £15, £12)

How are you planning to get to £50, by buying things? I thought with Quidco you just used it when you needed to buy something but you sound as if you have a plan! :p

I need to get some more bits for my Mum because I realised that I've got my Dad loads more than I've got her so I need to even them up! I also need to get a couple of small bits for SIL, I'm doing her a hamper that is marked up 'Girl's Night In' on one side which is full of pampering goodies and 'Girl's Night Out' on the other which has sparkly make up and such but it is looking very bare so I need to get some more bling to pad it out! I think I'll be hitting Claire's Accessories!

Not very often that happens! Usually it's much easier to buy for women! I love the sound of the hamper!

Wendz I'm not surprised you were proud, it sounds really good!

I got a S&G Big Thrill box too today, yay! I got up to go the store when it opened and there was a queue - they sold 104 boxes in 30mins!

No snow down here :( but it is stupidly cold!

    I know! I don't know what's going on!

I asked my Mum to get me a S&G box today as she was at work but she's not text me so I don't think she did! Boo! I don't really need more smellies really so it's not too big a deal... but I am gutted!

sounds familiar - i am working christmas day and boxing day!! had our first christmas with OH's family yesterday - travelling back on the coach soon - fingers crossed there are not too many problems and can get home in good time. Supposed to be 5 1/4 hours on the coach but have a feeling it may be longer.

The woman's a genius, I like that idea TPA! Add a little cat bed and it's a kitty paradise :)

I'm a genius...Cinny says so!! It is her little haven, she has a snuggley bed under the computer, her litter tray has a lid on it and is hidden behind a large set of drawers! She also has a radiator bed in there. Although in fairness with a completely nutty dog in the house she needs a room of her own to relax in!:o

need to make the stuff for my jars for Xmas presents - I've decided to do Baileys and white choc fudge, teeny mars bar rice krispie cakes, and biscotti. And maybe some teeny shortbread stars.

Wow Zig, your jars sound a bit more exotic than mine are going to be!!
Not sure if you would like this as an option, but it suits us, our spare room is used as an office and this is also where the cat litter and food is (having a dog as well means we cannot keep her litter and food downstairs as he would eat both!!:rotfl:

Yikes, your dog sounds totally mental!

Sorry NIM didn't mean to cause offence ... I just find it bizarre that a developed country so close to my own can not have postcodes! Stuff usually gets there OK though - Dublin, Kildare and Arklow.

Flower, sorry to hear you're having such a rubbish time, make sure you take care of yourself and if you feel yourself starting to get stressed and panicky just take a minute to breathe and try and calm yourself down. I think it will be nice to get your present and have a last memory of your friend.

Wendz, glad the passing out went well! I really want to go to OH's graduation but I don't think he wants to go

I'm worried about CMD - has everyone heard about the Eurostar chaos, I'm sure she was due to be going to Bruges in the last couple of days - hope you're ok CMD!

Talking of travel chaos, it took us about 24 hours in total to be properly home and settled from London. Snow started really bad just as we reached Durham Station last night - all the buses/taxis etc went out of service and no cars could get into the city - we were lucky that one bus driver came along who lives in Stockton and had to get home so we got on that, but A1 was about 5-10mph - like Birdie said because of all the idiots who can't drive - and dad came and got us from there, but then we've been trying to get to OH's village by public transport today as both cars were there, then on the way home there was a jacknifed lorry causing tailbacks which turned a 20 minute journey into a 2 hour one. So a lovely weekend away was had, but spoiled by the journey home!

Snow is so bad here, and the uni normally closes early when the weather's bad, so I'm womdering whether it'll open at all on Mon and Tues - can't find anything online or in the news so will have to brave the roads I guess in the morning.:o

Dinah, loving the to do list, it has inspired me to make one myself. I've already decided to try and do 3 dooyoos a day (a lot for me!) Sun-Thurs to try to get up to my £100 target.

Sorry for the long post, but hey, I did have like 5 pages to catch up on!!

Aye one of our friends is stuck in Paris (oh the hardship!) apparently eurostar are hoping to run again tomorrow, if it warms up, which so far it hasn't done... but they're starting with old people and families, as a 19 year old student shes going to be last in the queue so shes paid to fly back tomorrow.

Glad you had a nice time in London Tete. You should have seen the snow flakes here about 5m last night, literally the size of apples! We got about 4" in under 3 hours. There is currently a 2 ft icicle hanging from our gutters.

Awesome on the Dooyoos Tete. Today I've set up and learned to work the sewing machine (vicious bgger that it is!), you barely have to touch the foot pedal and its off at about a mile a minuite sewing a curve whether you want it to or not! Since leaving the sewing machine to think about what it did I've wrapped all NIMs stocking presents, and I've done 4 dooyoos so far (only one posted, all the others have been suggested), and NIM has done 2. We're aiming for 5 each by quitting time tonight.

Won another £30 on bingo britain last night too.

Well my Sister and Mrs Poolie have been at Heathrow since 10:00 for the 11:50 to Amsterdam. They have an onward flight to Beijing. At the moment it looks like nothing is flying to Amsterdam and nobody is telling them anything.

Obviously the airline are going to have to transfer them onto different flights whatever happens. At the moment all the other flights to Amsterdam with the same airline have been cancelled except theirs. If they get to Amsterdam I don't know if they will make the 2nd Beijing flight of the day. If not it will need to an emergency visa from Mrs Poolie so she can stay in a hotel overnight.
