  • When it takes me to the Additions site I can't even see the 3 for 2 offer - must have been swamped. Everything I look at on the site is sold out :( Good thing I suppose!

Odd, I found loads last night, lots of odd things like shower doors, but also lots of cookware. They gave me a £1000 credit limit which I'm kicking myself over now as I didn't realise what I was going for, thought I could just buy things straight away with cash. That said hopefully they'll have a good sale where I can pick up some bits.

I don't think I'm going to have it to be honest. Basically my bottom jaw is smaller than my top, so they want to give me braces for 18 months (train track ones) then break the bottom jaw and reset it. I'd be on a liquid diet for 8 weeks after the surgery, off work 4-6 weeks, 10% chance of nerve damage causing complete loss of sensation in the front of my bottom jaw, and only a 50-50 chance of solving the issues I have now of pain in the hinge and ringing in my ears. There is a waiting list of 10-18 months, and then in total it would take 2 years to two and a half years before I was done and we could think about starting a family. I just can't see enough positives to outweigh the negatives.

Thats exactly what i had. For me it was totally worth it - both cosmetically and medically, but its not something you should do lightly because as you can imagine its not a simple process.
My mouth was wired shut for 12 weeks - couldnt eat or speak. Thankfully got all feeling back, but its not a nice thing to go through.

Was on a liquid diet. Was given all these high calorie drinks that i had to take through a syringe. It became so incredibly fustrating that i would quite often just go hungry. I ended up falling into the same category as an anorexic would i lost that much weight - wasnt pleasant!

  • Dinah, (from one in know:o) this is a major op. and as you say something you say something you should not enter into lightly. Having seen photos of yourself I would say it is certainly an OTT for you to have.
You are gorgeous and I remember from months back it was something your MIL said that made you think about your teeth and mouth arggggggggggggggg:mad:.
This type of operation can have a fantastic effect for some people, but they tend to be those with much more pronouced problems. Having a family building/buying a home and your general health is far more important IMHO!

Couldnt agree more. I remember seeing photos of you Dinah after what your future MIL said and i thought she was insane for saying such things! For me it was both cosmetic and medical and has definitely boosted my confidence, but if it is not something that has bothered you i dont think it is worth the pain or hassle!
My confidence had always been low because of the appearance of my jawline so for me it was great.

Sounds like it would be a fairly horrofic thing to go for , so I agree don't go into it lightly. I also agree you look beautiful the way you are.
