Aww Flower, that's difficult, but also could be a wonderful way to honour your friend. You started to describe her to us, and I think that's what you should say - what she meant to you.

Flower, that's lovely that your friend said that to her mum. I would feel daunted about saying something at a funeral, my advice would be to keep it short and sweet and say it from the heart. Do you know when it will be yet?

Funeral is on Friday. I feel so selfish in thinking that i just cant do it, dont even want to go to the funeral. How am i supposed to find the words to talk about someone i have been friends with since school that im never going to see again.
OH doesnt know what to say to me, i had to leave work early yesterday because it all just got to much.

Sorry to dump it on everyone here, its just i have never really had anyone close to my die.

  • Flower I think everyone would understand if you didn't want to get up and speak, I don't think I could do it. Maybe like TPA says you could write down a few words and the vicar/father/whatever could read them out. I do think you should go to the funeral though, you might regret it if you don't.

I know your right tete, i would regret it. I'm going to try jot a few things down this afternoon, like you say i want it to come from the heart but also need something written down incase i just cant do it.

OH has been a real sweety, he text me to say we're going to have a movie night tonight to take my mind off it. Hes bringing all the supplies home and picked out some DVDs this morning.

  • Aw bless him, it's good that you've got someone to support you. Home Alone is a good idea, I watched a bit of it on Sunday morning, OH had to drag me away from the TV otherwise I'd never have got dressed!

OH introduced me to Home Alone two years ago, i am ashamed to say i had never seen them before and he thought this was criminal so he bought me the box set. I cant believe i missed out on them for so long!

ETA: also whilst money isnt on the front of my mind at the minute, i did my bingo britain this morning and won £15 and also redeemed on BP aswell. So whilst im not doing any hardcore money making, im still doing ok. Trying to keep myself in as much as a routine as i can, seems to be i get most upset when im sat around doing nothing and have time to think about it all.

  • Haha, there are SO many films like that that are classics but I've never seen - Back to the Future and Top Gun are two that spring to mind!

You poor thing Flower. I have never experienced anyone very close to me passing away so don't know what to say.

I also think it is a good idea to write stuff down and if you don't feel up to it on the day get the vicar/priest to read it out. Once it is from the heart it will be beautiful, and meaningful.
