I think it's because I like the idea of having a little bit of beach, and the water gradually getting deeper rather than plunging off the steps into deep water? I'm quite strong swimmer these days too but I guess these fears never really leave you.
Tried snorkelling in Cuba last year, could not get the hang of the breathing (no proper lessons beforehand) and my mask kept filling up with water and steaming up and the flippers kept getting in my way - I ended up having a bit of a panic attack and bursting into tears - whilst all these toned and tanned Scandinavians in the group swam off like bloody dolphinsit was horrible! I would like to learn properly though
I like fish

Sounds a bit like me. I was fine in Egypt so long as I didn't think about it, as soon as I did I paniced, splashed about a lot, started to sink and drank salt water and retched. Lovely! Plus NIM is a much stronger swimmer and was fairly oblvious to my panic as he was so busy happily splashing about looking at the pretty fish!
I like that they do twice daily boat trips out to the good reef. Its $6 each which is pretty reasonable I think, and its for two hours, which is long enough to enjoy it without getting bored. So a nice bit of activity each day in amongst splashing in the sea or infinity pool, or reading a book or doing laps of the island, or of course being all smushy and romantic watching sunsets and baby dolphins and the like.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I stayed here:

It was really nice and authentic and the rooms were cool with the bath actually in the room. The food and staff were outstanding too. It was on a stopover to Oz so wanted somewhere nice but was with a work colleague so obviously couldn't use the bath. Ha ha!

A pool that goes right to the edge and looks you would be able to swim over the edge.
The hotel we stayed in Abu Dhabi last week had one. Check out the gallery and you will see!

But I'm not. I just feel hollow about it. And I caused a fight with NIM over it cos I was being wierd about it. I guess I'm panicing that its too big a commitment to take on this huge mortgage and loan for the works. And I know its a smaller mortgage than we could afford and therefore it doesn't matter that we have a loan too instead of a bigger mortgage, but still, I don't know if I can do it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
