Dinah, the shop looks great, and I think the aprons are definitely a good idea. Would they be pretty type ones, like Cath Kidson style? And what sort of price? Cuz I'd buy one if it was my sort of thing. I've only got a Jamie Oliver Apron and it's a bit manly. (I had cute daydream just then of me in a pretty apron and OH in the manly one and us making cakes. But he hates cooking so it'll never happen! :p)

Wendz I hope today goes ok for you and your friend. These things are never easy though.

That's a big chunk of money saved on the wedding video! If I had one I'd never watch it back - too embarrassing!

Yep thats the idea, combination of pretty Cath Kidsony materials, and more funky retro style print aprons. Mixture of half aprons/pinnies and full aprons. When I went looking for graph paper today I bought a bit of ribbon as trim for the pocket on my first one, so I guess my heart wants to make aprons and I shouldn't try to argue!

    Definitely!

I don't really understand those half-aprons, I think I'm more likely to spill all up my top if I'm working at a work bench.

Any ideas for nice biscuits girls, I've got a Hello Kitty cookie cutter to make some biccies for OH's birthday, I was going to do Ginger Biscuits but apparently he doesn't like them  and all I know how to make is choc chip cookies or Twink's hobnobs, but they're not plain enough to make it obvious that it's Hello Kitty ... but I don't want plain plain biscuits! Anyone?

Maybe Shortbread? - Does it expand a lot in the oven which would misshape it?

I don't think shortbread expands too much... In most bakers they usually have shortbread character biscuits and they always look fine.

Or... plain biscuits (with a little vanilla flavouring?) and food colouring for fun! I'd go for pink but I don't think your OH would like that!

  • Oh he's very in touch with his feminine side! But vanilla is 'the devil's food', so maybe just shortbread then!

Right, I'm about to venture under the bed...

aww bless him lol! the boy has asked for cookies for christmas too so let me know how yours go!! I was thinking maybe double chocolate cookies? they would just be brown so might be plain? another thing if you want to have the shape but a recipe which spreads out, you could always cut them when they are cooked, or nearly cooked and then just finish them off (lots of scraps to eat this way too!)
Dinah I didn't mean don't try the sewing, I just meant be careful of the potentially massive outlay, sounds youre completely sorted though :)
Thanks for all the rates by the way guys! I'm trying to go through all of yours (putting mine to shame)! but i dont want to get in trouble by doo and i have uni work to do so it might be a bit slow!!
I have just done a job application form (these grad schemes are pretty hard and lengthy!) so i feel good right now! on to the essay though

MmmmMMmm your baking sounds good Tete - how come your OH doesn't like ginger nuts?! They are so tasty.

Well done on the etsy Dinah, looking great.

Poolie wil definitely review the iron, LOL - think I found you on dooyoo aswell.

This weekend we signed all the papers for our mortgage application  Big fingers crossed! OH and I never had any money for years so we are bricking it about getting the mortgage sorted. Our broker is extremely nice especially to worrywart FTBs.

Thought today was going to be a nightmare in work as had multiple calls from my boss over the weekend about a pitch that's come in. I prepared myself for a gruelling one, but actually it was fine. Think he is just getting a little overexcited....:o

Looking forward to curling up with emergency pizza though. Might take a leaf out of your book dinah and review it later!

Hope you are ok too Wendz x x

Exciting about the mortgage application, Lara! It makes all the difference having someone on your side who knows what they're talking about - hope it all goes through! Any more wedding plans?

Dinah, was just taking another look at your photos, they're really good. What sort of camera do you use? We're looking at getting an entry level digital SLR - any recommendations? People seem to either go the Canon route or the Nikon route from what I gather...

Right, I'm going to try to get an early night - no more money making for me today!

I'm a big Canon Fan, most of those were taken on a Canon Eos Rebel although a few were taken on the Canon Eos 500D. Getting good lenses can make all the difference to a camera, so you need to make sure you get a good lens as well as the camera body.
