Hmm, so we got quotes from solicitors for our conveyancing. The cheapest one was really aggressive salesperson and doesn't get on with our mortgage broker (who we think is great) so we discounted him.

Then we went for the next cheapest one who replied really quickly and was very nice. She quoted us fixed fees of £550 +VAT. So then we get this welcome pack which shows the fees as £600 +VAT, and I email and say this is not what we were told and unless they change the schedule there's no way we will be signing and returning the documents. Also in the pack was a £30 'contribution of indemnity and expenses' like £30 free for their office, and now I am wondering if I have to pay this or not.

THEN as if I wasn't raging enough about them thinking I am an idiot who will just send them over a blank cheque, this new lady sends back an email with the new fees but saying 'Please note that our fees in the attached welcome pack do equate to the fees quoted to you by Lorraine'

Now I am totally confused as even with my maths skills I don't see how £550 = £600??

And I am thinking maybe we should change now if they are such big chancers!

Ugh, sounds like a nightmare Lara! If you're having trouble with them already, it might be worth getting another quote?

I'm loving all these creative ideas and it's even better that you're actively pursuing things - doing sewing class for example...

I think my dream job would be working with big animals in some way, but I actually love my old job in children's publishing so I'd be pretty lucky if I could go back to that :)

Got my amazon vine today. This month my freebies are this and this. Quite chuffed with that tbh, one is useful for the house and the other is just something I should really enjoy.

  • I found out today that the big O (ofsted) will be in on monday and tuesday. So I am going to have a nice hot bath and go to bed early so that I am ready for burning the midnight oil in preparation for them coming. I am so glad I have had a new boiler fitted today costing £1400:mad: but I haven't had hot water or heating for two weeks. It's a good job we have a multi burner otherwise I may hasve frozen to death.

£1,400 for a new boiler sounds like a lot - Should have come to me and I could have snuck your invoice through on mates rates :D - But atleast you'll be nice and snug!!

Wowzer Dinah - They're some pretty decent freebies!! Can you let me know how well the soupy thing-a-majig is? Ours in on its last legs and that one looks pretty jazzy.
