    Morning Everyone

another grey and grim day here

Hubbys Birthday went well as can be expected when the Birthday Boy is working all day.But I made a delicious,(even if I say so myself)chocolate and cream gateau with candles on of course. Its what he asked for and along with cheese and onion pie for mains it was his dream meal.We dont have posh tastes meal wise

So far today I've done the ironing and the washing,Kids have been fed and washing up done.I'm off for a shower and get dressed in a mo as I have to nip to asda for toilet rolls and chocolate spread. Both of which I kept meaning to put on the shopping delivery but bizarrely never managed to actually get on there. After that it will be back to some cleaning and polishing and need to get a ham and a chicken in the oven as they are both languishing in my fridge and need using. So it'll be roast ham and veggies for tea with the remnants of yesterdays birthday cake for pud

N9eav- glad that the eulogy went down well

I like the fresh ones, but they are too fatty for DH, so end up buying the cheap bags from the supermarkets out here, which he will have an odd one, so I do get stale ones, will pick up a bag today I think;). To be honest think you could make a B&B pudding with that flavouring, just adding a bit of butter to the bread?

Can anyone tell me how much fresh/crystalised ginger is at home, so I can compare and see if it is worth bringing any back??

    Thanks
    DG
Normally get my ginger at Graves on offer, I suppose about £2.99 for a big bag, probably 400/500g

    Morning all :hello:

Glad the funeral went ok N9eav.

That croissant pud sounds delish Donny-gal - daft question: are you from Doncaster perchance? My family lived there in Cusworth up until I was born.

Not much to report from my end although my noisy neighbours reached new levels last night  I have to say though, it was actually so loud (I think there was more than one couple in there ), I think they were desperate for a reaction from someone, like petulant children. DH and I put in our earplugs and went to bed :T had the best nights sleep I've had in ages actually!

Have got a bit of a dilemma for what to have for tea tonight - we had sausage and mash last night (we both have leftover mash with a little tub of gravy for our lunches today) and I am now down to prawns and very little else. Thought perhaps I'd do some sort of risotto, but if any of you have any flashes of brilliance please let me know. Have got out 2 portions of HM chicken soup to defrost to have to start with as otherwise DH will be absolutely starving afterwards.

Hope everyone has a good day, hugs to all

Sainsbury's are selling fresh ginger for £4.78 a kg. Waitrose have crystallised ginger for £2.18 per 200g jar and stem ginger in syrup (my favourite) for £1.84 per 350g jar.
  • Morning All

Oh is feeling a bit better today, he's off to work as he hates being off, he's a metal worker so he might struggle today but he loves his job and would rather be working than stuck in the house, bless him.

Have a nice salad for dinner, going to zap it in the microwave at work to warm it up a bit. Its a miserable day in Newcastle today, its hard to keep the spirits up when the weathers like this!

Going to get the new telly tonight as ours in on the way out. My flats all clean and saw dust free now and the cupboards look great, my friend has done a great job :)

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

    Morning all,

Little bit overcast here today, but think I will risk putting the washing out as its nice and blowy, I always give it an extra spin in the wm once its finished, and this takes a surprising amount of extra water out.

Need to have a quick tidy round this morning, and hoover, get washing out, and then dd and I are off to pick up my mum, and go to Portsmouth fo the day shopping, (well mainly window shopping, need to get some ideas for dd's xmas presents) , there is a big primark there, so will have a good rummage in there :T

Dinner tonight will be ys salmon fillets for OH and I with new pots and brocoli, and a mac cheese for dd, I am going to do some sort of sauce for the brocoli with some left over creme fraiche.

Lilibet and Piglet,I am on the move too, but perhaps a bit behind you, they say they wil try to get it all done in six weeks, we will see, good luck to you both xx

mumto2monkeys, hello nice to 'meet' you x

Ok, need to go and hoover, have fun all xx

    Hi all!

We've had a chappy in to measure our windows for replacements this morning, so I had to clear a path in the craft room/office/junk room so that he could at least get to the window! This will cost an arm and a leg, but the current ones were pretty poor quality (thanks, Mr Beazer!) and yet we've still made them last 15 years! Some of the outside sills are rotting away, so they desparately need doing before they start to leak. They also have leaded bits in and our rooms are really dark, so we are going to get plain glass put in to make the rooms a bit brighter hopefully.

I've also done the floor in the master bedroom. It also desparately needed doing, but now I'm wheezy from the dust I've stirred up, so I'm sitting with a coffee to let my lungs calm down a bit.

Then I need to do the wages for my staff (I run a small business) or they'll be beating the door down for their money!

Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Sorry, I haven't started to separate individuals out yet, but I'm sure I'll get to know you in time.

  • Morning All,

Sounds like everyone has busy days ahead of them. Part of the OS thing I think, to squeeze as much as you can out of the time you have as well as the money!

Feeling so much better today, antibiotics are wonderful. Thank you Mr Flemming for all your hard work in that respect. Of course, now I must take it easy not to do everything when I have loads of energy cos the crash will be harder! When Hubby left yesterday for his conference, he did say 'now, when you feel better this afternoon when the anti-b's have started to do their thing, DON'T DO TOO MUCH!' Hmm, me thinks he knows me!

So in the spirit of not doing too much I have a friend coming over for lunch (who wouldn't take no, or bugs or sickness for an answer), the BM is on, 2nd load of laundry is on, first load in TD (shame on me!) and DD and I have emptied the DW and walked to the post box. Cannot wait for the reins to arrive, being 6ft tall and holding the hand of a 18inch or so 1 year old hurts the back somewhat! But so chuffed she's walking.

I love reading through here and seeing what you are all up to. If I had net curtains and neighbours across the road, I'd sure be a-twitching!

Bitsy - know what you mean about cleaning a house thoroughly before you leave, somehow its still 'your' house and you want to make it nice!

    xx
