Well I am clinically underweight and I always seem to get offered them when i go in, perhaps it is because I am at the other end of the country to you or perhaps they are just trying to fatten me up.

This is a load of rubbish and I think you should get a hobby or a job instead of standing in WHsmith watching the cashiers before your removed from the shop and asked not to come back.

Its simply customer profiling standard sales tactic.

Do you offer a choccie bar to the guy with a copy of mens health and Triathlon monthly magazine, or do you go for the lady that has waddled up clutching an armful of trashy magazines.

They only offer the chocolate if it comes up on their till screen.

In other words, the staff do not discriminate!

Ohhh, so what you're saying is they have special "intelligent" tills which scan the queue and can pick out fat people, which sends a message to the assistant to remind them to offer the fat person chocolate??? :D:D

    :rotfl:

OP, even if they did only offer it to fat people, who cares?! It's not discrimination, it's good business sense, as fat people tend to have less will power so scoff more!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • This is hilarious to me as I'm size 4 and a fitness instructor. I generally go to Smiths on my way in to work when I'm normally wearing my very obviously sporty uniform. And 9 times out of 10, they'll offer me the chocolates. Which I usually take! Perhaps they are trying to fatten me up.

Is this a recent thing? I've not shopped in smiths for months, but I doubt they'd offer me the choc.

I think it's just a case of knowing your target market. somebody who looks like they drink a gallon of fat drippings for mid morning tea is more likely to scoff a few chocolates than somebody who looks like they exercise, so there's no point asking.

Didn't you know there are hidden scales in front of the tills and your weight comes up to the cashier?
