    Afternoon all.

    Happy Birthday Mr Ravylesley.

I see we've gained some new friends over the weekend and today - welcome, one and all! Also, welcome home SunnyGirl.

N9eav hoping all goes well today.

BUSY weekend. Apart from lots of looooong walkies, we've made carrot'n'orange cake, gathered up the crab apples that the tree in the hedge deposited in the back garden and made jelly, picked sloes and started off sloe wine, and done lots of little jobs that have been niggling for ages.

I'm quite exhausted today, but have to keep going long enough for Mr LW to drive me to the surgery to collect my prescription, then on into town to get it filled and do a couple more errands, then on to Morrisons.

I need to take Molly out for a trundle before we go, so better shut up now.

((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today.

    Hello (Again!)

I've posted today already but i just have to tell somebody!! i have had my scrap/old/broken gold sorted for a while in a little box - it didn't consist of much just a few broken chains, a couple of old rings which were either broken or stones missing and about 5 odd earrings ; anyway as i was off today i thought i would take them down to the little shop near us. To be honest I don't get paid until the end of the week and I thought I would get about £30 for it which would just see me over without having too lose sleep!

I wandered into the shop she took my little bag off me and said.......£275!!!!!!1 i signed the form, took the cash and bolted from the shop before she could change her mind!! I rushed to the car and as DH said it was like that burger-king advert...."START THE CAR!!!!!!!"

Drove straight round to the bank and put the £200 into our account. The rest will see us through until pay day very nicely.

I hope I don't sound like i'm gloating but it was so unexpected (and needed for Santa!) that i'm really chuffed!!

    Hi Guys,
Sorry Im late in posting today. I have just got back from my meeting with work  Oh so stressful. Anyway we shall see what happens. Im in bed now and intend to stay here as felt so ill and snappy afterwards. I have just bitten my DD head off and think its the best place. Luckily my kids dad is here today as halfterm. Son he is sorting things downstairs.I have another appointment on Thursday, hospital daycase on Friday for treatment and another meeting a week on Friday:confused:. I also need to go and get DS3 some new school shoes this week as well.

Nikkei - so sorry to hear about you Guinea Piggy - they do that - suddenly go. One of mine did just after Christmas and there was absolutley no reason - she was in really good condition and was eating a mouthful of hay! Still like yours she died happy and loved. I know what you mean about the kids reaction - it totalyy broke DS2 heart as they are his really and live just outside his bedroom so they are always "chatting" to him. Good luck telling your youngster. I have two GP - a one-eyed girl called Squeak and Ollie whose a body builder GP. She recently had her eye removed and I spent two days and nights syringe feeding her as I was determined not to lose her.

Sorry im rambling - trying to take mind off my meeting
OS - I have sorted washing and two loads done and another in WM. House is a mess but to be honest Im past caring today. Cleaner on holiday this week :( DS3 is going to earn some pocket money doing some vacuming as he is very reliable and thorough. The rest will get done when I can motivate my kids to help. That in itself is a task

Well I think Im going to snuggle down and watch some TV now. How decadent!

    Hope Monday is ok.
    Love Molly

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

    Hi everyone,

I've had a very busy weekend and feel shattered at the moment.

It started on Thursday night when I had to take DH to A &E because he was assaulted in London by a cyclist who was riding on the pavement and got his handlebars tangled in DH's back pack. Luckily there is nothing broken but DH has one of the worst black eyes I've ever seen.

On Friday all our visitors arrived (5 of them including a year old baby) and we had another 2 turn up for dinner. We also had 9 for dinner last night and had a quasi christmas because DD goes on her travels in early December. I think I spent the whole weekend cooking and filling the dishwasher!

It was lovely to see them all though, worth all the hard work before and during.

Jc2730 what a result:T Ooh you must be so pleased.

A big welcome to 2cats1kid  Do not worry about not fitting in around here. Everyone's situation is different. I too am OS by choice (and also because I don't want to work for a living:D).

How old is your lass? I've been trying to get enthusiastic about teaching my 2 eldest to cook- they're 12 and 14. Trouble is I hate people helping me cook or interfering in my kitchen. They've got to learn though, I must bite the bullet and let them do it.

I'm having a peaceful day, the kids are variously doing homework, playing with the leaves in the front garden and reading Top Gear magazine. I have chicken stock bubbling away and making the house smell delicious and I've made a freezer inventory which I've stationed in a magnetic basket attached to the freezer and the washing is all done.

    Afternoon everybody,

SunnyGirl- lovely to see you back, got to admit feeling a bit worried when you did disappear so suddenly.I guess thats the trouble with the internet and being dependant on the external workings,so to speak.Glad things are a bit more settled for you now & your new dog sounds lovely.

MSD,hope you have a lovely time with your Dad,perhaps it will be a welcome distraction while Tris is being hard to talk to.

I'd been reading the threads, and decided to use up some stores and make space in the freezer, then I read another about stocking up for winter/illness/no money and got confused :rotfl:Anyway I've decided I do feel better when I'm fully stocked,so I've been tidying and sorting the cupboards, used a bit up over the last few days from the freezer as well, then went to Aldi and bought a few tins, toilet rolls etc so I'm back to normal now.It makes sense to do it when DH can pick me up too,so I can get bulky/heavy stuff I wouldn't get if I'm on the bus.

Well,I'd better get on and make a start on our meal, turkey meatballs tonight.Have a good evening folks.x

My girl was 12 last month. I told her that since she has 6 years till she goes to college, if she learned one new recipe a month till she left that would be 72 recipes, which should see her a long way. We got a cookbook with a lot of nice sounding stuff in, and I am encouraging her to try lots of main meals so she can feed herself, a few classier dishes in case she entertains, a few veggie things in case she ends up sharing a house with a veggie or has veggie friends, and some cakes/desserts for fun. She is really keen about it and although she's only meant to do one thing a month I think this will be her 4th main meal she will have cooked (with supervision). I'm hoping to raise a pretty OS daughter, as since she wants to go to music college and most of the courses there are 4 years, she could be living on not a lot of money for quite some time!

2cats1kid I think it's brill that you are teaching her to cook. My family were OS through lack of money when I was growing up and I was always encouraged to help with cooking, in fact it was a must do chore (not that I thought of it as a chore mind!) for me and my brother. When I went off to uni I could cook lots of meals (veggie ones cos I'm veggie) and my housemates were shocked to see me actually chopping and prepping food as opposed to having ready meal etc! Especially when I made pizza from scratch, one girl never knew that you could do that, she thought it came frozen in a box! :rotfl:

Well I've had a semi-wasted day. The blooming handyman rang just as I had planned to head out shopping and said he'd be here within the hour. Then rung to say he'd been delayed so would be hear by 4pm. Still no handyman  so annoyed, especially as I've moved stuff in room for him to get access to window.

I did manage to pop out to Morrisons to get some bargains. Cheap veg, BOGOF cheese and some other bits. But haven't got my halloween outfit sorted, and I'm working all the rest of week.

I have had a bloomin good clean though. Kitchen is spotless, hoovered all round and unpacked a few of the remaining boxes I had left from my move, filed away paperwork and menu planned a bit for the week.

    x

EDIT - handyman just rung, said he is on way from next town over, so will take him round 45mins if traffic is bad!

    Evening all,

Very nearly dark here, got the lamps on, winter is on the way, although its been very warm here, got two loads nearly dry on the line, will have to do at least one more tomorrow.

DD and I did her bedroom _pale__pale_ omg !!! it was surface tidy, but when we started pulling the bed ect out we found loads that she had 'tidied' away , anyway got rid of three bags for the charity shop, and a bag of rubbish, and have pulled all furniture out and cleaned and hoovered behind it all. We also packed two boxes of books and her stereo, so its looking much better, and will be so much easier to pack.

Dinner is on the go, am very hungry now, just waiting for OH to get home, and will dish up.

Welcome backSunnygirl we were wondering where you had got to, the new dog sounds lovely xx

And welcome2cats1kid, my dd cooks every Friday, and has done of a while now, does them good to learn xx

Celyn sorry to hear about your bike, hope you get it sorted soon xx

OH home now, so off to do dinner, have fun all xx
