  • Morning all

It's beautifully sunny here at the moment :) hopefully it will stay that way.

I have the day off work because I was working away all last week. So it's been nice to have a long weekend. I want to go out and do some shopping today, need to get a halloween outfit, and to look for curtains. But a handyman is meant to be coming to look at my broken window. I've rung him to say I'll be around today but could he let me know what time so I can go out. His workmate answered and said he'd pass message on but that was an hour ago and no call back! I'll give it til lunchtime then I'm off out and he'll have to come another time.

I must admit I used the DW last night as I'd made a roast and had lots of pots and pans. But I did put it on at 5am to use the cheap electricity. I often wake up in night needing loo so find that I just put it on then rather than evening time when it's more expensive. Sadly as it and my WM are intergrated I can't use a timer switch on them! The WM shakes quite a bit  so I daren't put it on too early incase it disturbs the flats below me!

I think I've cracked how to work the storage heaters too, thanks to some advice from MSEr's :D but I wasn't too cold last night so haven't used them yet. I'll be using my BM tonight too (it's my new favourite toy!), luckily it has a built in timer so I can have HM bread on cheap electricty!

Need to clean the kitchen surfaces and hoover - I conveniently forgot to hoover yesterday :o. And put away a big pile of clothes that have been drying on airer.

    Have a good day all

    Morning all :)

*sigh* well, I have to phone the insurance company :( Yesterday we hired a car and went to Bristol. When we came back, OH parked the car next to my bike and we unloaded the stuff we've bought in IKEA and went inside. About two hours later, he went downstairs to put the carboard into the car to take it to the tip and somewhere in that time, my bike had disappeared :( I phoned the police and reported it stolen - they just gave me a number. About half an hour after we went went to refill the car and drove past the woods at the bottom of the driveway - and my bike had been dumped in there - they seem to have tried to smash the head-lock but with no luck so had just dumped it :( So I phoned the police again, who sent a recovery truck and now my poor little damaged bike is sitting in a depot on a disused airfield in the middle of nowhere :( So I will lose my 3-year no-claims bonus and my insurance excess just because some pathetic little reprobate can't be bothered to work for soemthing he wants. Suprisingly, I am not angry, not stressed, not upset - simply so very *disappointed*. In two years, we've had petty thefts, attempted assaults and now this :( I hate living here and I know it's contributing massively to my generally less-than-cheerful state :(

On the upside, OH and I are going to a concert tonight and out for noodles :) I am quite looking forward to that, so that should cheer me up a bit. My mum is coming to visit wednesday too.

OS wise, yesterday we went and got a new bookcase as our existing ones are heaving under the weight - so that has removed a lot of the stacked up things and it looks a bit tidier. I went through my shoes and discarded ones that don't fit anymore and OH went through some of his clothes too. I also bought some ventilated pet food bags in Ikea - which will be great for storing potatoes in in the kitchen and some ceramic pots so I can dispose of the icecream containers OH keeps using to grow things in. I finished the laundry and cleaned the bathroom and did some craft work. I finally bit the bullet and registered on folksy, although I haven't listed anything yet - OH is going to take some photos for me as he's better at that than me. I also bought some fabric, so made a tablecloth and lined a small wicker basker to put some craft bits in - my mum wants to take some of my craft bits to work with her, so I hope to have a few bits listed and some cards printed before wednesday that I can add to the basket of things she's going to display for me.

I need to go into town to get a bus ticket too I guess :(

N9eav - thinking of you today
Cranky - hugs for you and george
rachel - hope your OH is feeling better
nmlc - congrats on your weight loss :)

right - have a good day all, cel x

  • Morning all, hope you are all enjoying the sunshine that we have here!

Seems as though I chose a bad time to join this board in terms of getting on with OS-ness - I had been feeling more and more grotty over the weekend, and gave in yesterday morning and spent another morning in the out of hours doctors place at the hospital. Seems I have a lovely case of sinusitis and am on hefty anti biotics to help shift it. Might be why the honey and lemon, steam and paracetamol weren't really doing anything previously...

But still managed to entertain 5 for sunday roast yesterday which Hubby was ab fab at doing everything for. Got to love that man! And then MIL phoned and asked to come round for tea just as lunch guests were leaving, wanting to arrive just as DD1's tea/bath/bed routine kicks off. Apparently she was bored. So MIL and FIL arrive 40 mins late without even apologising, then proceed to fill DD1 up with cake just before her bath. Sugar hit at bedtime, just what every parent wants:eek:. Didn't really ask how I was or anything, just said that if I wanted to go out later in the week to give her a call. What I'd really appreciate would be some help at home, but you know, that will happen when pink curly tailed creatures fly past my window! (sorry for the rant).

So today is spent recovering, popping pills and hoping the conference that Hubby is away on is so dull he decides to come home and not stay away the night. In the meantime, at least I won't be spending any money as haven't got the energy to go anywhere;)

Hope to be more upbeat tomorrow

    Thanks guys xxx

Morning all. Trying to get my flat presentable so I'm signing onto the flylady thread! Yesterday OH tried to persuade me to go to the pub for Sunday lunch but we had a roast joint that needed cooking so I put my foot down and said no. So two meals came from storecupboards. Today's meals also from things I had already although I did pick up some ready prepared veg on my way into the office to have with an old ready meal for lunch. We have no veg in the house and I figured this was better than nothing as whilst we have a microwave to use we don't have anything to prepare food with/on. I still have a mountain of washing to contend with and I also want to do some exercise (I have a wii and various exercise games and I rarely use it!)

*slowly peeps in, hoping not to get things thrown at me* :o:o

Hllo to everyone & apologies that I fell off the face of the earth as it were. The phone line that supplies the internet into the kitchen broke (and required £299 plus VAT to repair), Dh had his hours cut, MIL been very, very poorly & requiring 24 hour care mostly from myself and SIL and general life has kept me away from the internet for over 3 months.

Things are starting to settle down a bit & the internet connection was sorted out yesterday so I'm hoping that I can re-join the OS daily thread if you'll all still have me.

I still have the 4 children and we have a new addition dog wise - a gorgeous, if bouncy, 14 month old golden Labrador. The Beagle is very in love with her and they play endlessly together both on walks & at home. I'm still menu planning and OSing, even more so now that we are living on a reduced income.

I have thought about you all often & it's good to see some of the names I know still posting. I'd better go and edit my signature and see what's going on on the board. Hugs to you all xxxxx

Hi there, a couple of you have kindly encouraged me to come and join in.

I am an OSer born and bred - my mum made jams and stuff and my dad had a smallholding where he grew all our own fruit and veg, kept ducks and raised rabbits for the pot. He also made wine and the music of my childhood was the gentle plopping of demijohns! I don't make jam often (too hard on the waistline) but I do now make wine and the gentle plopping is now happening in my dining room. I knit a little, sew a little, and currently have embarked on a project to teach the kid to cook ready for her going to college etc. (She is making chicken teriyaki tonight - yum!)

Thankfully I'm now OS by choice rather than necessity (so far) but I use the savings we make to fund a nice holiday every 2 years and DD's very expensive music habit. I don't really feel I fit on many threads here as there are so many people trying to make do on an extraordinarily little money, but I feel comfortable here and know that if the excrement were to hit the air conditioning we could make do.

Hope I can find a niche here and look forward to getting to know you.

    *Creeps back out again*

    Hey Everyone

Hugs to all that need them!

Sorry I've been MIA it's been a funny old week last week. My new dog arrived into the world yesterday and will be coming home to live with us in December which will be amazing. Unfortunately though we lost our forth animal member of our family yesterday, our lovely Guinea Pig Skips. It was completely out of the blue and he fell asleep with lots of strokes and loves. We just need to figure out how to tell our son Bailey as skips was his favourite guinea pig:o

On the o/s front, I've finally bought a yogurt maker and it should arrive shortly, am really looking forward to being able to eat yogurt again as I stoped eating it as it was causing me to feel ill (think I may be lactose intolerant)

Once again big hugs to all

Great to have you back SunnyGirl:j

Welcome 2cats1kid:hello: You will like it here, we are all very friendly.

Back at work today after the weekend's partying (I have posted some pics on FB for anyone who wants to see but assure you that the worst ones were def not posted!) There were many slightly ill people the next day from what I hear!

Today's OS is washing hung out at 5 a.m. this moring before I came to work, spag bol taken out of freezer before I set off too so that should be ok for tea for OH and DD2. I am going to make a veg curry when I get home to use up all veg in the fridge which I can have for tea and freeze several portions also for during the rest of the week - will be good for the diet which I sadly broke with cocktails and chocolate birthday cake at the weekend!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Will catch up with the rest of the thread later when I get home.
