Result of calling the union (sorry for off topic post):

Had to call NUT back - they appologised but said that they were very busy at the moment. The lady on the phone was very nice, and has given me a number of the NQT advisor for my LEA, and has told me that it is possible for me to ask to be released from my contract and then do the third term somewhere else. Trouble is, I can't get hold of this new lady - maybe as it's half term, and I need to speak to her first. Lady at NUT doesn't think my treatment has been very fair.

    Posting first, catching up after.

Afternoon all, Monday and Tuesday's lists done :)

Two loads of washing on the line, including the bedding. Hopefully dumb n' dumber next door won't light a bonfire today.

Two parcels redelivered that I missed when I went out for half an hour yesterday.

Hope everyone's OK, must rush off and turn the sausages!

Pigpen - going to Uni is a big change for you, so its not surprising that its tough, particularly with everything else going on. The lack of organisation is something you're going to have to work with - remember, the place is full of students, most of whom can't even manage to get themselves out of bed in the morning! I'm one of those lol.. esp. this time of year when I hibernate!

Who is your main contact at uni? Is there a tutor who you see for general stuff, not subject-specific things? Or do you have a buddy or mentor? There is my personal tutor whom I have not yet met seeing as they changed my tutor 2 weeks ago without telling me and I haven't been there until this week. They should be able to help you understand the way that things work, why they work that way and what can and can't be changed. If they are aware of your mobility problems, you should politely remind them that you can't walk long distances - if they aren't, ask them how you formally make them aware, and what they can do to accommodate them. Of course they aren't aware. I don't want to be treated like an alien. They are quite unhelpful to the lady whose problems are so much worse than mine!! I quite like being just me rather than 'the person with 8 number of children' or 'the person with X issues'

As for the income issues - obviously those need to be sorted out with the relevant bureaucrats, but the university will probably have a hardship fund that can provide you with a loan to tide you over, or may be able to point you in the way of organisations who provide support to students.

I have been bombading them with phone calls to no avail. They just say it is being dealt with and there is nothing else they can do.. blah.. blah..

Don't give up yet - remember, you're ill, you've been through a lot of changes over the past few months, of which uni is the latest (I'm sure you know about the change cycle - which stage do you reckon you're in now?!), and it's October and getting dark & damp (although strangely not as cold as it should be!). Wait until things settle down before making a decision.

I am giving it until Christmas. If I still feel this negative about it then I shall look at changng course. Not helped of course by the fact I was talkign to a friend from college today who is doing social work and is there 6 hours A WEEK!!!!! I do more than that in one day!! I am glad sh eis enjoying it though but it does just seem it is only the biological sciences dept that sucks! stage 2.. Doubt.. definitely.
