Mudbath -I hated walking Ben for the same reason, but then I found a collie specific website that helped when nothing else was working. Ben goes on his lead as normal, standing at my left side. I hold the handle loop in my right hand, then the flat of the lead against my left leg with my left hand - so I have control but I am not pulling or yanking him. We then go in random directions for random times (so 10 metres forward, shrp right, 5 metre run, 180o turn, etc 8 metres) and do really, really quick changes of direction, so he has to watch me for instructions all the time. No praise or fuss at all, no verbal instructions - just move and do it fast so he has to look at you to see what is next or get dragged. I sggest without an audience as you look very stupid. It worked very quickly with Ben (who is bright), he loves it as a game and does it off lead now as well if I am out in the garden. I hope eventually he will be able to come jogging with me - we just need to cure the car chasing first. Took longer but also worked with Lu Tze (lab/collie so not the brightest but very smiley) who pulled a lot despite Halti, etc. HTH.
Ran out of steam now, really must make myself do some of the LR. 4.30-5.00 anyone?'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Jinky - I managed 3 binbags....such a de-stresser! I would throw my stuff out but there's nothing left to throw out!!!
Dusty - I thought about the pet board but couldn't find it so thought i'd imagined it! I'll go for a search!
I've just opened up our homemade robot head money box to 'borrow' some money until the end of the month - £30 in 50 pence pieces...result!
Going to see if I can give the inside of the car a quick clean before I take a child somewhere...i'm hoping I remember where I'm taking them before we leave!!

Thanks Hex....I will definitely try that. I have done that in the garden very successfully but not on the way to the park but I think that's because I give up because I look a fool. I think it's time to bite the bullet and just look stoopid!!! So, if anyone sees a mad looking women with a spotty doglet running round in circles...that will be me! xx0

I've overheated the shredder for the second time...and the lounge looks like a bombsite! DH will have a shock when he gets home.
Best get a move on and do a bit more lounge clearing before DH gets home and figure out how to clear all the magic sand from the kitchen table and floor....surely I should just be able to 'magic' it away?:rotfl:

List completed!!! Yes, you read correctly Monday's list is completed!!!!!!
Can I ask a quick question to all you dog owners....as you know, I have my lovely dog, stripes, who is now 18 months old and perfect in the house. The problem is her first walk of the day when she is nuts until she's run round the park for half an hour. Once she's had that run she's pretty good on the lead but due to my wrists being weaker than they should be due to breaking them etc it really hurts on that first walk. I've tried a harness, a halti, a half check, a normal lead,
Hi Mudders
We had exactly the same problem with our rescue dog who is about 3 years old now I have had a broken wrist and have other problems which mean that even for a short walk I need to make sure he doesn't pull. After trying lots of different ideas we eventually found that he couldn't pull with the Gentle Leader. I am not sure how it differs from the halti but we were told by a dog behaviourist to not buy a halti but to get a G leader. It is amazing, he doesn't pull at all. The other thing we used was a tin ( something like a baked beans tin) fill with pebbles and covered top with tape.-very MSE! I will look out the info on how to use it correctly and send it to you.
D is away so can't get hold of info until next week. Please remind me!business mortgage £0))''(+ Barclay's business kitchen loan £0=Total paid off was £96105 PPI claimed and received £13527
