Oooh luverly...bet they weren't told that during the job offer?
I can just see it now, first day on the job (earning close to minimum wage), & you have to hit someone with this line.....
"I'm sorry sir, I can't give you a refund on these white speedos as there does appear to be some 'faecal matter' on the crotch. Have a nice day & remember ....'Every little helps'."0 -

The original poster was merely trying to return an unworn item with the hygiene strip still in not a pair of shi**y speedos. I like most people wouldn't dream of returning anything worn/stained.
I accept that I pay inflated prices when I shop at M and S, Tescos etc. For that I expect a full refund in accordance with their advertised policy if they have not advised that the item is not returnable.
Otherwise I may as well go and shop at a market stall and save myself money.Money SPENDING Expert0 -

and why not! we don't all blindly defend our employers but if our job involves carrying out a policy we have to wether we agree or not and in my store there are not many who do agree but ours is not to reason why etci'm living in a parallel universe0 -
whenever i buy something that i think it is likely that i may need to take it back i either read or ask about the store policy. however if i were buying undergarments , swim wear or earrings it is common policy not to exchange other than for your statutory rights ...i would double check for these items.
also as some others have alluded you are more likely to leave your underwear on when trying on in the shop than when 'prancing' about at home.0 -
I think shops just shouldn't allow people to try on swimwear and underwear (apart from top bits obviously) before buying it at all.
Not all customers can be trusted to observe the same high standards of morality and hygiene that the fine upstanding posters to this site have.
Think of it this way - would you be put off by a sign reading "This swimwear/underwear may have been previously worn by other customers"?
As someone else pointed out earlier, these things don't vary in size quite that much and it should really be fairly straightforward to tell whether it will fit/look OK by checking the size on the label and holding it up against oneself.
Without wishing to have a dig at anyone, if I found that something looked great on the hanger but awful on me, I'd be shocked that there was such a difference and that I was such a poor judge of clothing.
I'm sure the guy on the Pigsback thread never has this problem with his tights but then again, he sounds like an old hand. ;-)0 -
hardpressed wrote:Would you want to buy underwear or swimwear that somebody had tried on without underwear?  This is more likely to happen if somebody has tried things on at home. Most people take care and would not do it but there are people who are not so careful. I would agree the signs should be clear but surely most people know you can't return underwear or swimwear.
Absolutely. What a disgusting thought to buy underwear and think that somebody elses bits might have be clinging around the said garment before you wore it?! Ugh. My god, I hate to think what the original OP's hygiene standards are like, but this is simply disgusting.
I rarely agree with Tesc's way of thinking, but in this case they are spot on. No you shouldnt be entitled to a refund, but I do think you should be entitled to a free course on health and hygiene instead! :rotfl:0 -
