TESCO swimwear-BEWARE! not returnable!

Recently bought an assortment of swimwear for myself & daughter, to take & try on at home. Having chosen what was best fit etc I returned remaining items to Tesco, only to be told that swimwear, along with underwear (& the usual pieced earrings) are not returnable. Why isnt there a notice I said, there is she said (behind Customer service desk & in fitting room area!).Thats no good I said, there should be one beside Swimwear or the Checkout operators should advise customers & anyway, how is it hygienic to try swimwear on in-store, but not at home??Don't know-'Tesco rules'.

I pleaded to be allowed to exchange Daughters Bikini top for a bigger one & the assistant relented & proceeded to pass items through till, only to stop & say that as it was an exchange, they had to be for same value & I couldnt swap for cheaper top(even though they didnt have same top as orig,in diff size!). I asked for manager at this stage & he did let me have refund for cheaper top, he could see my point re try on instore but not at home & no notice in swimwear but said Tesco policy & they couldnt have notices all over store!

I have complained to Tesco Head Office, but no joy & no refund for the swimming costune & bikini bottoms that I have & dont want! So, beware!-If you dont want to throw your money away, make sure that you try on items instore &/or take kids/husbands with you incase items for them dont fit/are liked.

Would you want to buy underwear or swimwear that somebody had tried on without underwear?  This is more likely to happen if somebody has tried things on at home. Most people take care and would not do it but there are people who are not so careful. I would agree the signs should be clear but surely most people know you can't return underwear or swimwear.

Yeah, no harm to you but this is the case in every shop I have ever heard of.

You would no doubt have coimplained if you had bought a swimsuit then noticed that someone else had worn it.

    I hate tescos.

You should be able to change refund or at the very least be told at the checkout what the rules are.

It makes me laugh when peeps come on here and say all this stuff about urggghhhh would yo want to try it on after someone esle has......get a life !!!

What about trousers,, they may have been tried on by someone else in store before you buy them and that person might not wear underwear urrrggghh shock horror

But if you are allowed to try it on instore, what is the difference? hmmm...

I wouldn't have a problem purchasing something someone else has tried on, surely people try things on with their knickers on, right?

Sorry this has happened to you!

I just bought a swimsuit for my 6month old, lets hope it fits then!!

I would try a different store failing that a little hole could appear and then you would have to be refunded. Sorry if that offends anyone but Tesco shoud allow exchange or refund.

In every shop I have ever been to there are no returns allowed on underwear or swimwear. I agree with hardpress, I wouldn't want to buy swimwear or underwear that someone else has worn.

I don't think they should have to exchange or refund it (come on it's not THAT hard to buy the right size in stretchy stuff) but they SHOULD make their policy clear.
    Why?
Well simply because it's morally right (I'm not sure of the legals).

Personally the only swimwear I've ever had to send back was mail order.
Anything I've been able to see (or hold up against me) has been fine.

Why do some of you have a problem getting the right size if you can hold it up against you (outside clothing).
Swim stuff is stretchy so has a lot of give in it, so shouldn't be a problem, unless you buy it with your eyes closed.
