    Question though, Hygeine strip or not, wouldn't you wash it anyway before wearing?

    Surley changing a bikini top is OK, that can't cause a health risk.

    Are there any doctors out there to advise is there a health risk or what are the chances of cross infection if someone has tried it on without underwear??

    I find it a bit weird that policy is different from store to store. Did you leave the plastic strips on and if so and still have receipts why not just try another store? there's hardly a shortage of tescos!

I wouldn't attack anyone for posting on here-just trying to point out that people could have tried the stuff on without buying it and that the OP knows to 'try before she buys next time'. Sorry you thought I was talking to you!

    there is a small risk of picking up infection as with any "body fluids" but this would diminish with time as the bacteria die off so if its hanging around a shop for a few days chances are you would pick up nothing but personaly i would always wash swimwear before wearing

    Also all cs staff check returned items and I am sure any with "body fluid" are refused returns.

    Well, isn't that just lovely for the CS staff. As if they don't already have enough to put up with. :rolleyes:

    I bought two identical bikinis in two different sizes and said at the time, "I'm buying two sizes so I can try them on at home and return the size that doesn't fit, is that okay?" and was told it was fine.

    I brought one set back the following week and was refused a refund. My biggest problem wasn't with the policy, but with the fact that their staff MUST be well-informed if that's the case. More to the point, the department manager I asked to speak to had the most appalling attitude I've ever encountered! I wrote to complain to both the store manager and head office but got nowhere.

    Upshot is, I haven't set foot inside Tesco since – that was six months ago. Also cancelled my Tesco credit card because of their couldn't-care-less attitude.

    So, who loses?

    Obviously a lot of Tesco staff contributing to this thread, if the comments are anything to go by!

    Our Tesco (big Extra store, lots of clothes) has no changing room, so the policy would have to differ store-to-store as there is no option to try things on.

    If you have been given false information and have no recourse then you have been unlucky and I'm afraid there is no easy answer.

    When I am dealing with situations which I think are starting to go wrong (or I might need to complain) then I start keeping notes of who I spoke to, when and where. If it's important I get things in writing.
    This has served me well in many cases.
    I have found that if you have lots of facts of names, dates, times etc. then you tend to get taken seriously and not fobbed off.

    Obviously you can't do this with every purchase of clothing, but I have used it with mortgages, ISAs etc.

    If you are suitably annoyed the options open to you are - writing to the paper, writing to the company concerned, standing in (or outside the shop) making sure you are heard, warning others on websites like this or even starting your own website.
    Depends how much time you want to put in to it.

    Occassionally you have to just take it on the chin and don't buy from them again.

    I am pretty careful but there isn't a 100% guaranteed strategy.

    You could always sell the second bikini on ebay to recoup some of your money.

    Looking at name badges and noting the name is always useful because they always say "do you know who you spoke to"?
