That's not sanctimonious, just plain common sense.
Would you want a swimming costume from someone with leaky bowel disorder or a nasty virus that is transmitted by contact?>
Get in the real world. I buy the heavily inflated prices from shops like M and S, Next etc because they DO allow returns with receipts. I have returned costumes to all these shops including Tesco's without any problems in the past. The CS staff do a quick check that the garment is unworn and refund. I doubt whether anyone queries a returns policy unless they are aware it has changed.
<Again it's YOUR responsibility to find a shop that fits your specific needs (or leave the kids with partner, family, friends, relatives or babysitter).
Great idea.
Find a shop that suits your requirements.>
No it is not MY responsibility to find a shop that suits my specific needs. I choose to buy and try them on in the comfort of my own home. It is called personal choice. I buy from shops were I know there is at least a 28 day returns policy for a full refund.
<You are entitled to that opinion, but don't come back complaining if you try on some swimwear with someone else's bodily fluid on.>
Mosy unlikely but it may have happened to you as you seem rather upset by it all.
I would only buy swimwear with a hygiene label and would wear underwear with the costume until I have decided to buy the item. Also all cs staff check returned items and I am sure any with "body fluid" are refused returns. Lets face it someone could try it on in the changing room and leave body fluid on.
I for one am grateful to the original poster for trying to keep us informed of Tesco's new policy re swimwear.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
At the very least if they continue with it they need to make it clear to customers.
I agree that they SHOULD do.
But isn't the moral of this story that some should learn that we don't live in a perfect world and it might be a good idea to check upfront?
This isn't the way the world SHOULD be, but unfortunately it is the way the world IS.
By all means try and change it (by writing to Tescos perhaps) but in the meantime I think it would be a good idea to check first.
Complaining on this thread acheives nothing (apart from warnign others which is worthwhile of course) so doing something constructive (like writing to tescos) would be a better idea.
If they get lots of complaints they might change their policy.0 -
Lisastar just remember to try it on before you buy next time!
Was this aimed at me?
If it was I'm confused as I don't have a problem buying underwear/swimwear at all.
The only time I had a problem was buying from a catalogue where I couldn't see the size of the item (so I now prefer to go to real shops).Absolutely !!! like I said before lots on here should get a life
Not sure if this was aimed at me either, but I have a great life thanks.
No problems with swimwear here (and I get through a lot because of the chlorine in the hot tub).0 -

Unfortunately, I'm not sure which speedo style would suit me best.
So, are we saying Tesco will refund after I've had a good chance to try them on at home?0 -

Not sure what style but the colour would definitely have to be brown.:DMoney SPENDING Expert0 -

Maybe you could sell them on MSE as some people don't seem to mind buying things that someone else has tried on :-))0 -
Hi bluenose1,Get in the real world.
I don't understand what it is you are referring to.
Perhaps you can explain what it is that you don't agree with.
I can assure you I do live in the real world and I do go shopping :-)I doubt whether anyone queries a returns policy unless they are aware it has changed.
I do because I think about these things in advance especially if I know that I might need to take something back e.g. birthday present.
It appears that I have less problems than others with this technique which is why I have advised others to use it.
I know I'm not an exceptional weirdo as I have many times been in shops when I have overheard someone saying "This is a present can they bring it back if it's not the right colour" etc.No it is not MY responsibility to find a shop that suits my specific needs.
Perhaps that was the wrong words.
But I think it makes sense that if you KNOW you might need to return something that you check the policy e.g. you are an awkward shape etc.
Doesn't this make common sense?I choose to buy and try them on in the comfort of my own home. It is called personal choice.
You can certainly chose to do that, but a retailer can refuse to refund and exchange.
Under current legislation this is THEIR choice.
My suggestions was aimed at avoiding this situation.I buy from shops were I know there is at least a 28 day returns policy for a full refund.
Great!
This is all I'm suggesting.
"Shop at places that you know suit your needs" - surely that's common sense.Mosy unlikely but it may have happened to you as you seem rather upset by it all.
I'm not upset at all.
I plan ahead and know my rights.
I have never had a problem with underwear or swimwear.I for one am grateful to the original poster for trying to keep us informed of Tesco's new policy re swimwear.
Me too.
It's a great site, isn't it.0 -
Well just to put my 2pennarth in. I bought a bikini from Tesco (it was alright whilst I stood still but as soon as I moved bits fell out!!! - I know too much information!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyway - took it back about a week later and they gave me a refund - no problem. That was at Tesco in BroughtonIt's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission0 -
