  • I haven't seen as many West End shows as I would have liked to have seen, but I have managed to see The Lion King 3 times. It blows me away. The music is just incredible!

    I also saw Sister Act with Whoopi Goldberg - amazing! Such a feel-good musical. Did anyone else see it with Whoopi?
  • I've been to several operas at the London Coliseum in the last year. They sing in English with surtitles. This site won't let me post the web link for the Coliseum which is eno dot org.

    It sounds expensive, but it's not. A balcony ticket will set you back up to £25 which is a bargain compared with West End musicals.

    Avenue Q - Had been wanting to see it for ages but made the mistake of taking oh's parents(who are theatre lovers) so sat there cringing trying not to giggle too loud (may have to revisit that one )

    I went to see Thriller Live a couple of weeks ago on a Lastminute.com deal - £26 meal & ticket. Fantastic value for the food and the show. My children did not know they were going to the theatre but absolutely loved everything about this show as all ages understand the music. It has a small cast but all excellent!
    Comping from May 2012 :D

    Thank you to all that post & contribute, I think you are wonderful, I could not achieve without your help :)

  • Great thread! It's old though - is anyone actually reading it?

    Stealing Fiasco's format from above:

    Based on what is currently showing on the West End, I have seen and would recommend:-
    • Legally Blonde
    • The Lion King
    • Blood Brothers
    • Jersey Boys
    • Mamma Mia
    • Priscilla
    • Les Mis
    • Sister Act
    • Billy Elliott (but there is a lot of swearing in it)
    One's I thought were good but not fab
    • Dirty Dancing (it's rubbish really, but great for a girly night out)
    • Phantom (I just don't get it)
    • Oliver (the early 90s production was much better)
    • Wicked (great show but forgettable songs)
    • Stomp (not really a musical as such)
    One's I didn't rate and were very disappointed in
    • Grease
    • Chicago
    And I would add a list of shows I would like brought back!!!

    * Miss Saigon
    * Sunset Boulevard
    * Joseph
  • Just bought tickets to take my kids to We Will Rock You, having seen it before and absolutely loved it!

    Have seen:

    Woman in Black
    Les Mis
    Oliver
    Phantom
    Avenue Q

    Loved them all!
