Be fair. The quarter tank of petrol is far more vavuable than any Rover.:D

As an aside, I think all Rovers should be part of the scrappage scheme. Trade in any Rover and get paid off. This would rid the roads of the wretched things, and hopefully their geriatric, befuddled drivers too.

And I would make it compulsory......:rotfl:

I am not a geriatric, befuddled driver

But I do agree with you about getting rid of Rovers.

As you know from earlier it was worth more to me than a quarter tank of petrol namely £2000.

In the Rovers favour I had never replaced the spark plugs or battery in over 92000 miles.

Just to let everyone know I did successfully remove over 10 litres of petrol by attaching a hosepipe to the inlet of the fuel filter and turning the engine over - it was very slow and was done over two days as I had to keep charging the battery which was on it's last legs - but at least I did'nt leave much in it.
So the cost of recovering those litres was the cost of electricity for charging the battery and 2 days worth of labour - seems fair....

was it worth the hassle for the sake of a tenners worth of petrol?

...And just for information the gauge was on empty when I left my house for the garage to leave it 10 miles away - the warning light just started to appear - the first time I had ever seen it. ....

There's almost a gallon still left in it!

It's better than leaving it in there for someone else to have - sometimes I think you lot on here are far too wealthy.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.........maybe, but then you're the one that's bought a new car. How much will that be worth in 3 years time?

Four grand tops, it's gonna drop quicker than that Rover.:rotfl:

i cretainly dont have too much money. but i dont see the value in desperatly emptying £10 of fuel from the tank, going to the effort you did. when as chippy said you can afford to buy a brand new car, (all fur coat and no knickers perhaps?) so whats £10 of petrol?

I am buying it out of savings because I am fed up getting no return on it and subsidizing people on tracker mortgages they are the wealthy ones!
