    Hi,

I always have the same problem, my whites go grey after a few washes, my DS shirts are already looking a little grey. How the hell do i keep them staying white? Do i need this vanish stuff or is there an OS tip. Please help.
  • My first question is - do you only wash whites together. I've found that if people mix whites and colours together trhe whiles can go dingy.

I wash only whites at the same time and use Tesco 2 in 1 tabs, biological ones, and my whites stay white. I also use a 40degree wash, not a short wash.
  • Save your eggs shells....put them in a cloth bag or an old sock knotted tightly + to your wash, gets your whites nice & bright. Then when they have been through a few washes they are all finely crushed just right for the compost or slug repellants!

Not sure how they work but got the tip from an old victorian book. I also use ecover laundry bleach for the hard core stuff....
    Hope this helps

    simplicity is key

  • Wash whites only with other whites (you might be able to get away with light pastel colours too). It is the colour from dark clothes that makes them grey.

Also contrary to current advice, wash your whites at at least 60 degrees. Also use Ariel automatic.

I do all of the above and never have any problems, and my mum does the same - she told me about this many years ago.

When I look out the window at next doors grey washing I cringe. Every one of their tea towels are grey. They just dont look clean.

I have just discovered the secret of white whites !!!

    NAPISAN !!!

Its available in supermarkets in the baby section and a scoop in the wash gets it all brilliant white. I think its the same stuff as in Vanish powder but at a fraction of the price.

Don't tell everyone tho or they might put the price up !

    :D

I tried it, but d'oh should've used a white sock! I think I offset the good effects with a bit of colour from the sock!!!
