Good Afternoon all
Just wondering if any of you lovely people could help with my less than white tea towels. They are the glass cloth linen type, and I just can't get them to come up white. I have tried soaking in soda crystals, as I had some in the cupboard, but they are still not white.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thanks

I was going to suggest on the hottest wash with bio tablets but I guess you have already tried that...:rotfl:#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Hi Flossie,
when my tea towels get particularly grubby (fairly frequently) I boil them in a large pan on hte top of the hob with some soap powder for about 45 mins. Just make sure they don't boil dry. It doesn't smell so great but it should bring them up.S/W -1, *-1.5, +1:o, -1/2, *-2, -2.5,0 -
Try soaking overnight in a strong solution of sterilizing fluid (e.g. Milton).0

Hi Flossie,
There's an earlier thread with lots of suggestions that should help so I'll add your thread to that to keep the ideas together.

Thank you, I thought there would be threads about this somewhere!
Will be having a look through for some top tips!
Tanith the first thing I tried was the 95 degree wash, it made no difference. I would like to point out I don't normally wash at 95 degrees, but was a little desparate.
I would ask my mother, who's tea towels are always pristine (big sigh, eyes to heaven), but there is a pride thing to consider (mine that is) - my Mother is a bit of a 'everything I do is perfect' person, if you know what I mean. I just wish that gene had been handed down..............
anyway thanks again

I was wondering which powder people thought was the best for getting really white whites at 40deg
Or do people have any other tips?
I pulled a white towel from the wash today and thought urhh that does not look sparkling white. I really cant stand off white whites. Any tips gratefully received.0 -

I also use a bit of bleach; usually on DS school tops, when they come home covered in dinner, or paint etc. I usually just soak the tops and anything else white in the sink for a while then put on a normal wash. I always tell myself, what is better for the environment (and my bank balance!) - a splash of bleach or chemicals, tons of water and other production costs for a couple more new school shirts?Buy nothing for a month challenge - Oct
