Hi catzpaws,
I use soda crystals (50/50 with washing powder) in every wash and that seems to keep whites whiter. Sometimes if I think a white wash really does need brightening up I'll add a scoop of Napisan in too.
There's an earlier thread with other suggestions that may help:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the ideas together.

I also found that the quick wash wasn't getting my whites white so I started to use the "whites" wash on my machine along with pinks suggestion of soda crystals and although I'm probably using more electric on the longer programe the results are blinding! To try and keep the costs down I only do 1 whites wash a week and still do it at 40C - i haven't found lowering the temp to give any better results.Banana LoversBuy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. You can clean white net curtains by soaking them in water with a couple of denture tablets.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0

I give my whites a last rinse (by hand though) after dissolving a little bit of Reckitts Blue in it. I put the garments in the water and swish them around a bit then put them to dry. Dazzling white they are.
I get it from my local corner shop, but if you google it you will find places where you can order it online, I'm sure.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

Hi all,
Recently purchased some white linen trousers and a white long skirt.
I am not very good at keeping things a crisp white...always end up discoloured.
How do you keep your whites sparkling? Any tips?
Thank you.0 -

Always wash whites separately from coloureds and add some Napisan to the soap dispenser drawer. Gets mould off shower curtains and keeps all whites really white.:)0
