OS way to brighter whites?

I would suggest using Biotex or a Nappy soaking solution. Bleach will weaken the fibres.
failing that, a good boil wash in Biological washing powder often brings my whites 'back up to white'.
Make absolutely sure they are 100% cotton though! if they contain any other fibre then don't boil wash and definitely don't bleach.
edit I couldn't remember the brand for the nappy soaking solution - thanks other posters! it is 'Napisan'.0 -
I wear white shirts for work and I wash them in a combination of regular washing powder and Napisan mixed together, always on 40 degrees as anything lower doesn't seem to do the trick. Before I discovered Napisan I tried various other things and this is the only one that works. I've had some of my work shirts for 6-8 years and they still look good (it's a uniform, so can't go out to buy any and I only get two per year).0

I bought a white t-shirt from a charity shop today, slightly off colour but not by much. So my question is..how do you whiten whites? The extent of my laundry is separate dark/light/white so I've no idea the best way to do it!0

I would buy a whitening powder from the supermarket first. Then afterwards wash all whites together,0

I bought Dr Beckermans whitener cheaply from Home Bargains a while ago. Sorry can't remember the price but cheaper than normal. (Five sachets in a box.)
I've just used it on white bras and shirts yesterday and am most impressed. (Hanging whites out in sunshine helps too, if we are lucky enough to get some!)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Hello
I was ironing my husbands shirt last night and it looked a little bit grey/grubby. I have always had this problem with white shirts they have a life span of about six months before they start to look washed out.
What am I doing wrong? Is there anything I can do to minimise this?
Thanks in Advance

A pre-wash soak in diluted Stardrops. If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5?

Would this work for socks too? My girls are into white socks now for the summer term and they are lasting 2/3 wears at the most before looking grotty.
Tell me about it. The socks are black rubbing against black shoes.
I've started to throw the white shirts and socks into a bucket of soda crystals. There's a huge improvement on getting white again but it's not enough. I'll try the stardrops.Dave Ramsey Fan[/COLOR]0
