I think you need to look at your maths (and your ability to exaggerate) - a pound or two does not equate to £75 per week!
i think if you follow the thread you will see that i was replying to this quoteOldernotwiser wrote: »Since when have self respect, ambition and personal fulfillment been luxuries? What's a pound or two less per week if you have these?
what i was pointing out was, if you earn a pound or two less than £75, then how do you pay your rent which is £75?'sorry LL cant pay you the rent this week, because my self worth, is greater than your £75/wk'
self respect, ambition and personal fulfilment are all well and good, as long as you earn more than your bills amount to - but the consensus here seems to be, that if going out to work means you have less money, than when claiming benefits, its still the done thing to do0 -

she was working whilst pregnant with 2nd child, she was made redundant just as she was about to leave on materninty (they made the actual job redundant so we couldnt fight it) so since having the 2nd child and with my work comittments she has been unable to work, well this is'nt true it just doesnt seem right for us.
my argument which has been mis understood by MANY of you is that a non working 'dossing' couple seems to be better off than people in my situation and it's frustrating.
i understand some of you jumping on my back, i didnt really explain aswell as i should!0 -
Where i work (carehome) staff can start day or night shifts unqualified (but they must do all the induction on day shifts) but must after the 1st few weeks be enrolled onto a nvq level course. Personally i dont see any way aound this as 'caring' i not really something that can be learnt just from college or books, you need to actually do it to learn it, so they have to take on untrained staff intially.
I'm one of those people, who came off benefits to take a job earning me approx £2.00 a week more than my benefits and i havent regretted it for a second.
When i have kids i also know that im going to have to go back to work, pretty quickly (hopefully only part time at 1st), for the money aspect, but me and my BF have discussed this and when that time time comes, i will have to work nights/weekends so we can share childcare.0 -

You have completely backed up what I was saying earlier.
Your situation is exactly the same as mine was and gradually It has gotten better. I dont pay for childcare and miss very little of being with my children...only an hour or so at bedtime.
Well done. What you are planning does work, I am living proof.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
