Thankyou for a civil response !
Barclaycard Accept cheques as a form of payment . I CHOOSE this way .I personally find it fishy that they dont recieve a single cheque unless it's posted recorded delivery when other companies i pay do .I was basically curious if any other Barclaycard customers had experienced this .I have wrote a letter which is going recorded tomorrow.

As for the other responses well im not going to waste my time .

    For " Civil " read : What i wanted to hear.:rotfl:

Honestly, get a grip. Your preferred method of payment is not working so choose another less costly, less time consuming way. It's only you who is suffering here. Not Barclaycard or the PO so why be so bloody belligerent ?

Chances are within the next few years you will be forced to change payment methods anyway. I don't mean to be rude but stop being such a tool about the whole thing.

[QUOTE}Anyway when ever i send a cheque to BARCLAYCARD it mysteriously goes "missing" .
Now ive paid other bills via cheque for 6 years ( only 1 cheque went missing).
Other bills ive paid over 10 years none went missing.

Now i find it strange the only times any cheques EVER seem to go missing is with BARCLAYCARD and personally i think its fishy. There is no way this amount of cheques can go "missing" and only to thier company.
Has this happened to anyone else who pay thier bill via cheque?????[/QUOTE]

Wow this is a heated thread! I can see why the OP wants to pay their bill by cheque. Not everyone is comfortable with online banking or the security issues attached with it. My Dad will not under any circumstances do his banking online for that very reason.

But I can sympathise with the OP as it has happened to us - albeit several years ago and we charged the £12 too. Money was tight for us when we first got married and I paid everything by cheque as sometimes I needed the extra clearing days in my bank account for money to go in etc... It will be at least 5 years ago and after three cheques in 6 months went missing I started paying - still by cheque but over the counter either in Barclays or my own bank. Like the OP none of the other cheques ever go missing - just Barclaycard but I've always thought it was down to Royal Mail. I used to phone up a few days before the deadline for paying to check whether the cheque had been received or not. Sometimes I narrowly avoided the late payment charge by doing this too.

I must admit I now never ever post a cheque to pay a bill I always take it to a bank. Did you know that depending on which bank you can do some banking at the Post Office? Not sure if this would be covered though. It takes one day longer to clear too. Just a thought if you are already going to the Post Office to send it recorded delivery. I now bank with Lloyds and have used this facility to pay money in and withdraw but not to pay a bill.

I would be interested to see what Barclaycard say in return to your letter although I suspect that they will deny receiving the cheques so there is very little for them to say.

    Good Luck with it all

I think IZOOLS summed things up very well. You just can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped, though I'm more inclined to believe there's more to this story !
  • No its victor meldrew symdrone!!! The op is a proffesional moaner!!! 'I don't believe it, I could pay my barclay card bill online quick and easy but being the obtuse individual I persist with taking the time and energy to write and post a cheque'. Then when it doesn't get there I have something to spend many an hour moaning about it'!!

I don't believe for the 9th time this year my cheque hasn't reached barclay card !!! I have something to moan about for the next few days.

Barcaycard are a waste of space so you are better off closing the account and going to another provider.

Seem good enough to me, they are the largest card issuer in the uk.

What has given you a negative opinion of them?

I think the OP in his busy schedule should drive to Thynne Street in Bolton (Where they are based up there across the road from the uni halls) and hand it personally to Barclaycard then he can't moan when his cheque gets lost in the post, I'm sure if the OP asked nicely they will let him/her watch the cheque be processed and give them a tour :D

    Bah! I like them.

They have an 01 number I can call from my free minutes which gets straight through to a human without an IVR, the card is the best looking one in my wallet, and the lowest APR card in my wallet, their online services are absolutely fantastic! I love the way they lay things out on their online banking, it's much better than Halifax (Aqua), or anything else I've used in the past for that matter.

They have existing customer offers like the Breath and OnePulse card as well, and the widest range of credit cards for the widest range on consumers, anywhere in the UK.

I don't have a chequebook myself and most certainly don't miss it. Anyway, what is easier intercepting and decrypting an online transaction sent over an SSL connection, or intercepting the post, and editing the writing on a cheque? I think cheque fraud is much more likely that fraud involving the interception of a standing order payment from your bank...

Ah well, OP won't have the option of paying by cheque if the account defaults due to lost post and won't be able to get another credit card if that happens... C'est la vie!
