Why People Carriers?

I don't know about the scenic or picasso but the corolla verso seats 7, I don't think the normal corolla can.
    ML.

Have had a xara picasso for 5 years now, and the benefits over the standard xara for me are the back seats are full individual adult seats that can truly seat 3 adults in comfort. The standard xara is very cramped in the back and is bench style so the poor sap in the middle has to straddle the footwells.

We had a 7 seat Renault Savannah. It was cr*p. Only kept it 6 months. Hated it. It was our worst car ever. We then 'progressed' (oh the shame!) to a Nissan Serena. Give it it's due, the kids could climb aboard no bother, and they did have plenty of leg room (and their own heater and moonroof!) The kids really liked it. They had comfort, which was more than could have been said for the Renault, as they complained for the whole 6 months we had it. Sometimes if you have more than 3 children, needs must i'm afraid, and a people carrier is sometimes the best option. But now my little ones aren't so little anymore, a normal saloon car does us fine.

One day when you have kids you might understand that function overrides form.

Fortunately when I had my first two people carriers hadn't been invented so I didn't have that awful decision.

Even worse have to drive a 4x4 just on the off chance we have to tow the pony.

Wonder when I can get a car I want..... :(

Well I have a Citroen Berlingo 1.9D, the people one, not a van.

It really is the ugly thing that is a van with windows.

And it doesn't even have 7 seats, big boot though, done 100k not died yet, can't wait for it to stop working.

I dont have a gripe with all people carriers - if you have a large family then they are a practical way to transport them around. What i have a gripe with is the mini mpv's.

What can a megane scenic do that a normal megane cant?
What can a toyota corolla verso do that a normal corolla cant?
What can a xsara picasso do that a normal xsara cant?

In the case of the Megane Scenic and the Xsara Picasso, both have 3 individual rear seats so it's possible to fit 3 child seats in safely. The Megane and Xsara are much smaller cars width wise. Not sure about the Corolla.

It's the drivers who get on my goat!!

A people carrier is simply NOT a man's car, no matter what colour you paint it or how tinted you make the windows.

Blokes behind the wheel drive like idiots as if trying to prove their masculinity - You are driving a windowed van, a kiddies taxi, nothing more, get back in lane 1 and leave us blokes to go about our business in proper cars!!!

If it isn't the "under the thumb" husband driving it...... it's the wife..... nuff said!!!
    :rotfl::rotfl:

I bought our Zafira from my brother in law (well kinda brother in law, long story). He, just for the record, is an ex British Touring Car Champion! Now that really is nuff said:D
Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p

Put a smile on the driver's face?
    Go fast?
    Handle well?

    Only joking!

There was a good post by terrya a few posts back. It's true, some people are absolutly mad on cars and to others, they're there to get you about and nothing more. I think the people we're taking the mick out of are the people who have a people carrier but really want it to be a sporty little number and try to make up for thay deficit by racing everyone.

At least nobody has mentioned Caravans yet..... Doh!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Don't get me started on those muppets!
Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.
  • Nothing worse than being stuck behind a peoplecarrier thats behind a lorry thats stuck behind a caravanner who cant get past the tractor thats being held up by the bikies riding 4 abreast.
