Afternoon all.
Welcome DianaMattos.Feeling a bit rubbish today as I woke up yesterday with sore throat and earache (what's with that?! Who gets earache when they're 29?! Isn't that a chilhood thing?)
Have just taken a loaf out of the BM - I usually do bread rolls, but Mr LW said to give myself a break and just do a loaf this time. I still have to do a few little cakes later though.
Molly Dog enjoyed her walkies this morning - we made friends with another little dog, and they had a lovely run round together. Once I've posted this, I shall be getting back on the ol' scooter and give her another trundle around the field.
Hoping all those with colds/other ills are feeling better today.
Diva I've checked all the local spas but no sign of our voices. Thinking of posting an APB on them.:D:D Specially as Mr LW was trying SOOOO hard (and failing) not to laugh at me squeaking this morning.:D
((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hi all, hope everyone is doing Ok,and hugs to those who aren't.
Been to Asd* this morning-I was in there ages, got a few little bits and bats for Christmas (pressies and food),and Ds1 picked me up so I could get more than if I was on the bus. So,YS pork escalopes for tea tonight. The only annoying thing is I've forgotten to get my soya milk as they have had a big move round of everything and I got confused. The local shop doesnt have it,so I'll have to get some tomorrow.
DH and DS2 arrived home from work about an hour ago, having done as much as they can today.
I'm going to go and finish my C cards this afternoon, you can hardly move in there, and I want to get my sewing machine back out-DS1 took me to Abakhan yesterday at Preston,so got plenty more fabric for projects.Got some nice fleece-he wants me to have a go at making some neckwarmers,DS2 takes them when he goes snowboarding.Got some Xmassy fabric too,to have a fiddle about with, may make some placemats, not sure yet.
Bye for now x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon! Feel like I've accomplished quite a bit now, thank heavens! Went off to Aldi and got some veg and some more apples, then just whizzed into Waitrose for a quick looksee and they had lots and lots of reductions, came out with a pie (for a whole lot less than I could make it and with good ingredients), a couple of veggie bits and some veg, also grabbed some ben and jerry's as dd3 was with me and asked very nicely! Then onto Asda, remembered to get dd2 and dd3 some new pillows, plus the broccoli for Sat and the cider for the pork to cook in, got a couple of bits whilst dd3 was looking the other way ready for Chrimbo as well. Even including the extra stuff I am still under my GC budget, and on checking the bank account I'm doing far better than I thought, wasn't wildly out but enough to make me whoop at the cashpoint!
Fed me and dd3 and now having five mins. Dinner plan now looks like this:
OH and ds - rump steak (big pack on offer in Waitrose, and the meat there is generally very good)
dd1 - cod - reduced in Waitrose and a huge reduction too!
dd2 and dd3 - pizza from Asda (back on offer at £2)
me - quorn escalope (another cheapie reduction from Waitrose!)
all will be served with stir fried kale (yep, another bargain!) and game chips.
Only read a couple of other posts so going to catch up now!
Molly - cheapo noodles are a huge favourite with my kids, I think they're great as a snack, my lot don't use the flavour sachets but plonk on chilli sauce or soy sauce and have been known to chuck in some veg!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hey everyone ,been busy cleaning and tidying and now watching Doctor who before i go to the supermarket. Has anyone got a good sausage casserole recipe that I don't need a slow cooker for. I'm trying to find a big cooking pot thing to put it in and then in the oven on quite low and I'll rpobably have to go buy one, so knowing where I can get one of them from would be good too
Hi there! Asda have a large metal stockpot on offer at the mo for £7, or a smaller white china casserole dish with lid for £3 if they're any use? I just brown the sausages with a chopped onion, add beans, can of toms, carrots cut into chunks and a potato or two chopped into chunks, with a sprinkle of mixed herbs and some garlic and a dash of worcester sauce. Quick and easy and happily eaten by everyoneGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Hooray, I managed to get my jumpers dry on the line :j and 3 pairs of trousers are still out there in the last bit of the sun.
mummysaver - it would be worth asking your GP for a blood test to see if your iron stores are low. Mine was just about within the normal range but I was really tired (I have M.E. to start with so was getting desperate) so I've been taking iron tablets, and with half a packet still to go I feel loads better. You do seem to be doing an awful lot though! Do you ever manage a bit of "me-time"?
Lowesy - hope you feel better soon, earache's no fun!
Molly41 - Poor old George, hope he's soon on the mend (and that you're not overdoing things) x
taplady - What a shame about DS's jobI hope the right job for him comes along soon.
bargainbird - I looked at the pics of Spike after posting this morning, and all I can say is that I wanted to scoop him up and cuddle him (he wouldn't have been at all impressed, would he!:rotfl:)
mioliere - Glad DH's finger is better! DS managed to take a chunk of skin off one of his yesterday evening, doing something electrical at college
RosyRed - Asda are fond of moving stuff around, aren't they - it's maddening! I remember once I went in there and there were little notices on the shelf edges saying things like "Soup is now next to the baked beans" and "Eggs are now on the end of the Cream aisle". Someone had got out their pen and written "WHY???" on every single notice:D And our local big Sainsbury's now has pies and quiches in one place, and other pastry goods (sausage rolls, pasties) in anotherI know they hope that by moving things, customers may notice something they hadn't tried before, but as far as I can see it just irritates everyone!
LameWolf - Hope your voice comes home soon, hon! Glad to hear you are looking after Molly-dog again.
Peyton - Hi there, we've missed you x
Hello Elfen - Sorry, I don't have a sausage casserole recipe for you, but can recommend one of Ikea's cast iron casserole dishes (If you can get to an Ikea.). I use mine a lot. It's not such heavy gauge as the Le Creuset ones, but that also means it's cheaper to buy and easier to lift
Nice to see you Purpleivy - Glad the exchange went ok!
AussieLass - Hope your headache's gone now.
Welcome to our new posters.
(((HUGS))) to all who need some whom I haven't mentioned
Dinner is Spanish Chicken - a recipe from one of my diabetes cookbooks. DH hasn't been feeling great lately, and our healthy eating regime has slipped a bit, so trying to scramble back on the wagon again :A in hopes that will help him. I persuaded him to make an appointment to see the doc as well, thankfully, but that's not until 2nd November.
Tomorrow morning I have an appointment at the hospital and will find out whether the consultant thinks my varicose veins should be got rid of, or whether he'll just tell me to wear support stockings for the rest of my life!0 -

Oh gawd, I just remembered, we're supposed to be doing a Tesco run when Mr LW gets in from w*rk. I'm depressed now!:(:DIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Hello everyone
I wasn't quite sure where to post this so I thought daily chat was as good a place as any...
I'm turning more OS and OH doesn't quite know what's hit him. I've been lent a Kenwood Chef till the end of January (MIL is away until then and I have been umming and ahhing about getting one but didn't want to spend the money to end up with another kitchen item rarely used). At the beginning of the week I made a lemon cake (I cheated and used a pack mix I had from my new style days) but it certainly took the arm ache out of mixing it myself and gave a better result than my old food processor. Tonight I am making two banana cakes from scratch and some pastry for a steak and kidney pie, the meat part of which is currently cooking in my slow cooker. I've also been looking at making bread and I stumbled across a thread about making butter with it (which I really want to make as well but with two tubs of shop bought butter in the fridge this'll have to wait :rotfl:).
I've also starting reading Nella Last's war which was recommended on here and I have two make do and mend books, again both of which have been mentioned on here.
I am kicking myself as my freezer is full so I can't take advantage of bulk cooking and freezing home made 'ready' meals. I would list my items (as well as the cupboard) to see what I could make but both are so full I'm not sure I can find the time or face the shame of posting themDebt at lightbulb moment (18 Aug 2009) 30933.95,Debt 1 July 2011 £9663.71Debt free date[STRIKE]February 2017[/STRIKE] September 20160 -
Afternoon everyone, just popping in
Welcome, DianaMattos! I'm feeling very OS-y, and have already prepped tea for when we do want it
Just got a shopping list to write, and some other stuff to do - it never ends does it?
Anyway, I'm thinking of joining the Grocery Challenge, excepting my month begins in the middle rather than the end of the month so I find it difficult to keep track
oh well. Here's hoping, anyway, that I can save some money.
Ivyleaf - it isn't overly long in itself, it's just I have to take public transport to get there. An hour and a half there, and an hour and a half back - it makes it a really long day. I leave the house at just gone six and don't get back until then! I do get through an awful lot of books thoughThey know me at the charity shops!
Right, going to get on with a few more bits and bobs before tea, then a nice hot bath and getting ready for work. I shall probably pop back later (I know myself!) but until then have a lovely evening everyone!
(((hugs)))

Hi Guys,
Welcome to DianaMattos and Knitty78. This is a lovely place to post and very supportive.
Hope everyone has a relaxing evening,
Love mollyI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0
