    Morning all :)

Bargainbird - spike is so cute :)
lillibet :rotfl: :) I always like powercuts when we were kids as we'd all sit round candles and my dad would make origami models to keep us amused :) (whilst my mum would stress about the freezer)
diva - wow! that's a crazy amount of baking!
taplady - hug for your DS, I hope he finds something that he enjoys.
cranky - hugs for you and george
 for the new people :)

I'm not well, I'm only in this morning as I've been asked to do the coffee for the department (the normal lady that does this is off sick and the person that fills in is onleave). It's a nice system - all of us go for coffee together in the morning, but it does mean I'm going to be fighting the coffee maker for the next hour :) I will do this, go to my meeting, work until lunch time - then I will go home (yeah right).

It turns out OH's estranged spouse has been sending things to the wrong address. I am about to suprise both sets of solicitors by refusing to sign the rubbish thats being thrown at me. I think they all think I will do it for the sake of an easy life, but I'm not going to lie on a legal document to put myself in a postion where she gets what she wants and I leave myself open for her costs. I fail to see any incentive in that. I find it interesting that I have been not actually been served with her petition yet I am expected to return an acknowledgement of service. Hmmm, might spend this afternoon in the law library.

Right - better start the coffee machine :) have a good day all, cel x

    Morning everyone.
Think cold is going to my chest as it feels tight :( Just what I need - more hacking my lungs up grrrrrrr)
H was off yesterday with man flu but think is going back to work today ;)

Popping to see a friend this morning so not sure what OS-iness will get done this afternoon as I am having my hair cut along with the kids.
Need to put BM on and find somewhere to hang the vast amounts of washing
Tea tonight will be bacon and courgette pasta bake.

Watched an interesting programme on BBC 3 last night called "Who made me fat" and it was about supermarkets and their BOGOF's deals which the majority are high fat or high salt foods (Morrison's came bottom of the 4 for healthy BOGOF's - one of the top blokes from Morrisons was trying to justify this and made the comment that many of the biscuits have a 5 month shelf life so you could buy a cheap packet and make it last 5 months :rotfl:). Its still on iPlayer if anyone is interested. Just goes to show cooking from scratch is best as you know what's actually in your food!
Anyway enough of my waffle :o

Diva - you must have needed a lie down after all that baking - phew!!!

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

    Edited to add:

Molly - you don't sound boring, you're not boring........you really shouldn't put yourself down xx

i too remember those 70's blackouts , in fact i have a very strong memory of my auntie staying and she had given me a very pretty butterfly hairclip , it was pearlised and i was on her lap by the fire and it seemed to come to life , with the reflection from the fire and as the room was in darkness apart from the glow .i was amazed to see this , i think i must have been about 6 or 7 at the time .
i have an abel and cole box coming this morning , one more delivery next week then i will be credited with £50 in my account :j
not sure what dinner will be today , it will depend on what whoopsies i spy in the supermarkets .
hope everyone had a good day and hugs to those who need them

    Morning all

I'm usually running around at this time on a morning finishing preparations forr dinner and throwing my lunch in a box and grabbing one my sons to fling out of the car as i pass his college...but this morning i have decided i'm not going to work coz i feel like pants!! my two step-kids that live with us have come down with a cold and i am definitely under the influence of some germ or another. So rather than go to work and hope my boss feels sorry for me and sends me home (he never does!)i'm going no where.

I will however spend the rest of the day full of guilt for not going in!

Good morning everyone :) It's a foggy and grey day here, and there's a load of washing ready to go on the dryer. Back to work tomorrow (((sigh))) I have to write a shopping list and, guess what? I've already made a start on buying my C******** presents! I've been looking more at making them though and definitely making them all next year.

As an aide-memoire, I need to buy minced beef, some mushrooms, a chicken to roast on Sunday, some pork steaks and wraps for fajitas, milk, cheese, etc.

JC, I don't blame you for not going in. You can do more harm to the workplace by spreading germs than by struggling on and giving it to everyone (((hugs))) You concentrate on getting better :) I tend to do the same with where I work, but it never happens - I never get sent home. So it's better to take the initiative sometimes and make sure you're 100% first.

I want to do a bit more cross stitch today. DH has told me he'll give me a lift into work and pick me up tomorrow; it usually is a 3 hour commute (both ways) so that will be lovely! Chilli con carne tonight with jacket wedges - yum.

I hope everyone has a good day and (((hugs))) to those that need them or just wouldn't mind one. Here's to a lovely day

    Kitchenbunny xx

    Good morning! :hello:

Lovely day here this morning. WM is on, but not sure what (if anything) will get hung outside as the garden gets so little sun now

Thank you for all the birthday wishes on Monday! I had a lovely day. We took DD1 and DSIL out for lunch (it was to celebrate her degree as well, because she didn't want to go to the Graduation ceremony), then after we got home DSIL2 brought the little DGKs over while DD2 was sleeping between night shifts. They were flatteringly pleased to see us :D

We have discovered why DGS (3yo) has always insisted on standing a few inches from the TV screen - it turns out he's very short-sighted and needs quite strong glasses :( He has the bluest eyes I've ever seen - they just don't work very well! At least he'll be well used to wearing them before he starts school, and although his short sightedness will get worse as he gets older, at least glasses nowadays are much lighter than they were when I started wearing them in 1960 :D We're hoping he won't mind wearing them when he realises how much better he can see, and that he won't bury them in the garden as our nephew once did with his :rotfl:

Diva -:eek::eek: How could you reveal whodunnit on Harper's Island? I haven't watched the last two episodes yet! :rotfl:Hope your voice has come back now (I haven't read today's thread yet)

Celyn - Loved the cake! You're so clever!

Cranky and George - Thinking of you xx

Penny_Pincher - glad you are feeling a bit better. Hope you enjoy your break xx

Hilstep - Well done on the award

Welcome back kitchenbunny, glad you had a good time! A three-hour commute :eek::eek: Horrendous! Do you do it every day? (I'm sure you've told us, but I can't remember :o)

bargainbird - Well done Spike :D

Off now to catch up on the rest of the thread, and most of yesterday's!

    Morning all,

Feeling a bit rubbish today as I woke up yesterday with sore throat and earache (what's with that?! Who gets earache when they're 29?! Isn't that a chilhood thing?) and also discovered that I'm still not pregnant :( We've only been trying a few months but every month is like another kick in the teeth...

Anyway, DH and I had a fabulous time at Spandau Ballet on Tuesday night - I can happily report that Tony Hadley sounds just as good live as he does on the radio  and of all things, out of 20,000 seats (odd) at the O2 I ended up sat next to a girl I haven't seen for 10 years who I was at ballet school with!! Couldn't believe it - we've been looking for each other on facebook for ages but were both a bit too dim to twig that we'd got married and changed names :o. This in itself is OS related as she still teaches at the school we were at and has offered me some free ballet classes if I help out with the baby classes on a Saturday love it :j

Was meant to do a Tescos shop yesterday, but spent most of the morning bawling my eyes out, and then was over at my parents unpacking some of our stuff to make the move easier next week. Mum also then insisted that she fed us so free food :T Think I am going to do something creative with a tin of corned beef for tea tonight, but am trying to run everything down for moving next week.

Hope everyone has a good day, many hugs to those who need/want them (I'll be taking the benefit of hugs offered earlier so thanks :))

    xx

  • Hello all,

I have decided that I need to give myself a kickstart and have some kind of accountability re housewifeness (or 'houseperson' as my mobile phone contract now states!) and have come out of the woodwork to post on the daily thread for the first time. I have been around on here for quite a while (years rather than months!) and have learnt so so much, so thank you all.

    Hello:hello:

A bit about me - I'm 27, mum to DD1 age 1 and one on the way. Been a stay at home wife/mum since June 2008 and love love love it. Don't however, love love love cleaning esp the bathroom!

I did try to keep a blog about daily doings, but my heart wasn't in it and I only had 2 readers anyway (and no, it wasn't my mum!). So perhaps on here I can be inspired and actually go and do something to write about

But now I have to go and get DD1 up from her nap and head out to mums and tots. Now DD1 can walk by herself, its almost a morning off :rotfl:

    xxx
