If you have everyone for 20 mins run through the training then they are done and dusted and the trainer leaves.
If you have everyone trained during the working day A) you are short staffed and disrupted all day with people in about out constantly, andyou pay the (probably very expensive) Trainer all day.
I can't believe that you really, truely do not comprehend the logic of their solution. It's not about "greed" it's about running a business that makes money, which in turn pays the employee's wages. It's not about "only 20 minuites" it's also the knock on effects of running the business on the bones of it's bum for the day.
most companies train people within the working day thats nothing new.0 -

on the stats, like i have said if they havent been off for a long time and they dont regularly stay off for training days or otherwise then it wont show up in stats.
i can tell why any suggestion of a sickie annoys you as i get the impression you are a boss yourself. that isnt a dig i simply understand why you would take the stance you are taking.
So, why have I also recommended this evening for someone to complain that their boss has harassed them on facebook...I'm about fair play through and through.
Taking a sickie should annoy anyone in the world of work, as it impacts on businesses and colleagues who have to pick up that work whilst the sickie taker is not around.0 -

New starters, yes, en masse, no i disagree."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -

If this a one off it's hardly treating workers badly. If the OP thinks this is so terrible then the option is simple, find an employer that has the same work ethics as himself. This is not to knock OP but to offer a solution. Over my working carrer I did this more than once. It's someone else's fault.0 -

So, to clarify, you are recommending that someone forfeit 20 minutes extra pay in exchange for 2 days with no pay?0 -

I have not read the full letter they put up but it does say somthing about being in our contract about we need this training to fullfill our work blah blah blah in other words if we did not do this trining we would be in breech.
Looks like they have us over a barrell
So, you are going up in arms and feeling all hard-done by, without even bothering to read the whole letter?
Ironic really that so many people on this forum have taken the time and made the effort to read your post, consider its contents and provide their opinions/advice. All in their own time, with no pay whatsoever.
And yet you won't read a letter written to you by your employers or attend the training they have arranged in order to allow you to do the job that they are employing you to do. Despite the fact that you are being paid to do so.
It seems perhaps just a little bit one-way to me.0 -

so if you get asked to do something at work and you say sorry i dont know how to do that. do they schedule overtime for showing you how to do it or do they just show you there and then? i agree its mainly new starters that need training. well thats obvious.0 -

it is an example of bad treatment but yeah its not as bad as what a lot of bosses will do.
as you will know if you are one of the few that have read my posts properly i agree that they should just do it.0 -
