Happymum168: I am getting on really well with both pairs, its as though I have been wearing them for a long time, when its only been about 3 weeks. I had bi focals before. I did have an obvious change in my prescription, it had been well over two years since I had my eyes tested. I would have queried such an expense for what seems like a small change too. When I made the initial search in Specsavers this is exactly what I came across - they wanted to sell me two really expensive pairs but it didnt seem a problem at Asda. I only picked up one pair that they said would be too narrow. Luck of the draw I guess.Growing old disgracefully!0

Thanks Lilykim, pick up my glasses today and the optician still insisit that little change ( -.25 on left eye) will make a difference. Althought the glasses(titanium frame) is much lighter than before,i can't really tell the difference in vision; might try it for a week and see. Did anyone ask for refund before ??0

NB for anyone also in the HSA schemes, it's worth getting your glasses now, because the rules are changing - it used to be you could only get the allowance every 2 years, but this is changing to annually, so if you get some now, you will be then able to get some more anytime after April when the rules change. Theoretically this could mean 4 pairs for free* from the same prescription (at least that's how I read it).
*£20 a month out of my salary covers this and dental etc.
SimplyHeath/HSA are great for anyone who wears glasses, I have been a members since I started working many years ago, I find I get my money back through glasses and dental charges each year, plus when I had my ds I got a maternity payment too. They also pay back really quickly usually within a week.0 -

Hi,
Switched to Asda from Spcsavers last year when I first saw this thread. Just been back & got two more pairs for £110 as they've released a new range of frames. My eyesight is -8.25 in both eyes, and last time around I got 1.70 hi-index lens, however this time around I only got 1.67 hi-index lens although the guidance notes seemed to suggest that I should've got the 1.70 hi-index lens. Maybe they're finding this deal a little expensive!
Anyway, not overly bothered as this is still an amazing deal, and the difference in lens thickness between 1.67 & 1.70 is negligible.
For those of you who are interested, this lens thickness calculator is a really useful tool! http://www.justeyewear.com/thickness-calculator/
For me, the difference between 1.67 & 1.70 is only 0.3mm, 6.6mm instead of 6.3mm. Not really worth paying the extra for the thinner lens for such a small improvement...0 -
I am really shortsighted & therefore have a high prescription. I have been considering going to ASDA, but am unsure how thin they will be able to get my lenses.
Does anyone else have over -12 sight who have been happy with ASDA lenses & frames?0 -

I am well over this (-15 ) and am delighted with my Asda frames and lenses. So much so that I ordered another two pairs after having the first two for a year. The staff were great and helped me choose the smallest frames so that the glasses look even thinner and I got the thinnest lenses possible. I got a free test as my prescription is so bad. They are by far the best glasses I have ever had. I normally wear contacts but I can actually go out in public in these glasses and for anyone who has poor eyesight like me they know what a revelation this is. I chose Golddigger frames for all four pairs as they seem to be the smallest with the large side arms to make the leses look thinner. The reason I bought another two pairs was in case god forbid we went back in time to the seventies and huge specs became the norm!!!! My husband got Nike frames and he has much the same presc as you.Snootchie Bootchies!0
