Asda employees get 10% discount on most purchases which is doubled to 20% for one day in the year, usually a Tuesday early in December. Not all of the purchases that are eligiable during the year are included on double discount day but opticials are. I only know because I qualify.

Me and my husband ordered our 2 pairs each on sunday, can't wait to get them :T
  • Picked my glasses up from the Queensferry store on Friday and had service there that was second to none! Spent about half an hour with Cered (who is a star!!!!) to make sure my specs were fitted properly!

So, my 2 pairs of designer frames ended up costing me £77 (which is less than one lens would normally cost me anywhere else)

Big thumbs up to Asda! :T

Oh, and I was told that the offer would be going on as long as they're making money! With people like me (-10.5 and -11.5), they're losing money straight away, but they're hoping to gain new customers with lower prescriptions and make their money that way. So tell your friends!!!

    :rotfl:
  • I have taken up this fantastic offer, though I am told the lense manufactors are unable to give me 'reactalite' or light + dark because my astigmatisim is too high. 8.75 + 8.25, has anyone else had this problem I have read through all the posts + cannot see anyone else had a problem awww Thanks
  • I have been told before that the maximum for Reactolite glasses is about +9 to +10 so I think your prescription excludes this. In addition you would want the thinnest lens and Reactolite do not I believe come in a lens thinner than 1.67
  • Thanks Peter, I have had them before from Boots (costs a small fortune) I wondered if it was something to do with the lens supplier or the offer.

Well, we've just gone and got ours - two pairs for myself, super-thin (1.7ish), one with a tint to wear as sunglasses; and two pairs for Marley. With the NHS contribution thanks to tax credits, we paid less than £100 for all four pairs.

Just had a phone call to say mine are ready - ordered them at 3.45pm on Sunday so really pleased as two pairs of varifocals in 4 days is going some. My daughter has just been told 3 weeks for her single vision ones from vision express.
(I've never had two pairs before cos I couldn't ever afford a spare!!!)
