VE gave me the most expensive brand - Asda recommended a lower priced contact lens for my astigmatism and they are the most comfortable lenses I've ever worn - and are £15 a month less!
Hi Skint_Catt
I also use astigmatic contacts, but usually from Specsavers. How much are the asda ones please0 -

Depends which brand you use!
I was trialling Acuvue Advance from VE - but Asda suggested I try Air Optix - SOOOOO much more comfortable and £5 a month less(£14pm less than VE were trying to charge!)

My sister paid almost £350 for 2 pairs due to thinning being done. When I found out the glassses were already ready for collection hence too late to take them back. At least Asda is now another choice for next time. I didn't even know Tesco did glasses too.0

on my prescription looks like i would get 1.60 index lenses?? although i have quite a high astigmatism in one eye so may get 1.67?
are 1.60 significantly thinner than 'normal' lenses?0 -

If Asda are selling these then I will be down there like a shot but if not then might be worth amending the title. Susepect that these are high index plastic which are not as thin. Such things are vital to people like me with mega prescriptions!please do not pick on me for my grammar,I left school at fifteen and worked in the building trade for 55years ,

I'd booked an eye test at D&A for this coming weekend (have tried all the other high street opticians and not particularly happy with any) and was ready to be charged a fortune for a new pair of glasses as I'm blind as a bat. But have managed to get an eye test appointment at Asda for next Saturday. I asked if the deal would still be on then and she said yes. Woohoo! :beer:please do not pick on me for my grammar,I left school at fifteen and worked in the building trade for 55years ,

there is no way that I will get thin lenses with my prescription-27 both eyes all you others that say that your eyes are BAD have no idea what it is like to have BAD eyesight I cant get plastic lenses and have to have circles in the middle the last pair cost me £600 +0

_27 is blind as a bat, hope your not like old me:pHave you ever considered having lazer surgery given your very strong prescription? You would probably be an ideal candidate for this.
-27! I thought I was bad at around -12, -5 of which is astigmatism... only ever met two people who had eyesight similar to mine and one is my brother ;o)
I suspect the OP wouldn't be suitable for laser surgery as I was told that I was on the borderline for it and would in all likelihood still be short sighted afterwards, just not as bad.
I went to Asda this morning and was amazed to get 2 pairs of designer frames with 1.9 glass lenses for £90! Even the assistants were amazed - I would be looking at around £1000 on the high street, and the online shops won't make them to my strength.
I understand that glass lenses are more fragile than polycarbonate, so would welcome any comments on this from those more in the know.
I did want a pair with the reactions lenses but apparently they only make these to 1.6 thickness, which would just be too thick with my prescription.0
