How does joint residency and the CSA work? I know they reduce it for overnight stays and the last cut off is 175 (off the top of my head). Once it reaches 181 nights do they butt out or do they still expect a so called "NRP" to pay the so called "PWC" even though they have the children an equal amount of time?August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

Ooh believe me, my groceries are down! Helped by the fact that tonight I am having dinner at my parents

I spent a lot of my time on the Old Style board and also got lots of helpful tips from Sou a while ago.
Nothing like Mum's cooking eh?!!! Enjoy
And do have a look at the Up Your Income section...there may be something for you hopefully:D0 -

It's as basic as who gets the Child Benefit unfortunately. The system isn't set up for something as 'modern' as shared care:rolleyes:
So yes, they would expect an NRP to pay the PWC if they were claiming the CB. Another flaw in the system and hardly going to get NRP's breaking their neck to do shared care if they think they have to pay CS and then pay for the care of the child - and quite rightly so.0 -

Can a father challenge the Mother for child benefit if they have joint residency and care for the child 50/50.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

Oh no, sorry I didn't mean that. Both Mum and Dad are with me, just Dad is the cook :rotfl:August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61

Both parents can apply and then it is up to the CB people on who they decide is the 'main carer'. At the end of the day, it all comes down to overnight stays - as oppose to day care - and since there are 7 nights in a week, there can never be a 50/50 split of overnight stays. If it really gets down to it (for example, they spend one week with Mum and then one with Dad yaka yaka) then I would assume they would have to look at nights in a month.
I do know of shared care arrangements where one parent claims the CB plus and CTC and splits it with other parent by physically handing it over.
One parent CAN claim CB and the other can claim CTC though. Again it's a bit of a drawn out process but it can be done.0 -

They are a pain! We have just had the same thing saying we have to pay an extra £700 when we have not missed any payments, we have sent about 6 letters to everyone we could think off as the csa people on the phone did not have a clue and would not offer any help, they have not cared that we have a new baby to look after and bills to pay, i still didn't get any help from the people i had sent the letters to so i got some advise and sent a letter to the MP with all the letters we had sent, they are now looking into this for us, We have just had a daughter in July and we are still waiting for this to be sorted out as well as a big drop in wages we are finding it very hard but they do not care! I would advise you not to bother wasting you phone bill to them as you will get no where with them i have spent many hours on the phone with no joy, have a look on the net for your MP it will have a email address for him/her they will then pass it on to someone higher in the CSA they will then look at your case and will have to give a break down of how they got to £5000, I will say we have been waiting 3 months and are still waiting still paying all this money out, Good Luck.
I contacted our MP yesterday and had to email all the details which I have. I had an email back today saying they had faxed a letter to csa asking for a complete breakdown of arrears and stating the fact that telling us csa comes before a roof over our heads is rediculous. Fingers crossed we get somewhere.0
